I don't see the big fascination with shelford. He doesn't quite cut it for me, he seems to be a good utility player as his size and background club but I just don't think he meets the quality of our pack players. Why is Lister being named in the 19 when he has no intentions of being played, he can go back to his amateur club for game time. If he doesn't meet the quality of the players then surely the jam will have him. I'd like to see him given the chance to play, from what people say I've heard hes seriously quick

Why have we brought Fell back ? He's bound to play, I don't get this, Mewse or Rooke will lose their place and if development is the aim then playing games against the weaker opposition is surely in their interests, and they don't get any weaker than hemel & south Wales to maybe make an error or 2 and hopefully not have too much impact on the end result.

Agree with this. If he comes he plays which ,as you say, jeopardises the position of our locals--- the ones we are supposed to be building our team around. Rather than leave out Mewse ,Rooke or Patrick against a side as dire as this I would drop Chamberlain .If we need to import a Wigan player like Fell to beat the "Ironmen" then it's a bad job.

Why is Connor Fitzsimmons playing for Cas U19s today instead of for us tomorrow ? I thought we had him on a season long loan deal ?

Is he really ? Bizarre if that's the case . I thought the idea was developing him at this level

there is no  DR , they are season and long term loans but their clubs can and will recall as and when needed , fell is a fullback on loan and is here to cover towns injured fullback, mewes and rooke are future wing prospects and maybe the coach wants them to play there and gain exerience and improve their defence  . south wales are capable of scoring more than 18 pts if Hemel can .

Hi. Cas have been struggling with injuries. We were asked to release him back for this week to help out at Cas due to their injury situation. All loans season long or short term have a call back clause if all parties agree.

You wouldn't think Cas were struggling with bodies the way they dismantled Saints today. Of course they do have one notorious absentee who often reminds me of one of our own talented but wayward ex-players! Hopefully we can cope with Conor's unavailability but in more crucial games I would expect him to be back. As for Dowsett , he looked the business early doors so why does he not feature -- is it the travelling?

I could understand the recall if it was the Cas first team, but the under 19s ?

Parent club. Seem to call the shots. Luckily it's a game we should easily win. Got to say also, it's a long season and certain players not making the cut is only a sign of a competitive squad. Personally it's what I like to see rather than the same 19 week on week and players becoming upset at constantly missing out. Keep players guessing and working hard to in training to make the squad

It's bizarre when some are twining about playing some loan players and others are twining about a different loan player not playing! Do we want them or not??

I'm happy with things as they are, let our coach decide who he needs wherever they may be from.

The race is not always to the swift nor the battle to the strong, but thats the way to bet!

So what's bizarre about questioning why a player who has proved a success during a supposed season-long loan should be recalled for an under 19 game while a Wigan traveller looks like playing when he's surplus to requirements?  Some players - in particular forwards - are welcome incomers to a squad light in that department but taking backs when we are adequately served in that area is counter productive. So the answer to your question is - some we need and some we don't.

The thing that I find odd (if that's a better word) is that CF seems immune from the locals v travellers debate even if he maybe keeping a local Town lad on the bench or not in the squad some weeks. Gabe Fell has been draughted to cover a specialist position but some people won't seem to give him a chance and would rather we try a winger there because we have some kicking their heels on the sidelines.  Don't get me wrong I thought Rooke played well at FB pre season and I thought he would drop in when Tee got injured.  But our coach would rather we bring Fell in and I've no problem with that as FB is a key position. I think if he has a stormer this afternoon then it won't be an issue anymore, just like Davies was never an issue because he played well on his home debut. Fell was brought in at very short notice and consequently didn't shine right away so now isn't needed.

IMO I'm pleased Fell is here because if poor Mewse filled in and had a stinker in front of the home fans it might have knocked him back. He got a chance away from home at FB with less pressure from the fans which is something to keep building on, especially playing out of position.

I do agree that we need some big lads brought in, but you never know JP may be a revelation at prop.
