But that logic means he’s had 9 games with his squad.

If Smith gets sacked that will be 4 coaches sacked mid season in 6 years at some point Leeds are going to have to stick with a plan through thick and thin or were in an endless cycle.

Theres no relegation battle to worry about this time.

One full off season with his own squad plus 9 games very similar to Sam Burgess in that respect but Rohan has been at the Rhinos how long?

No disrespect but for a rookie 1st team coach Sam is making Rohan look quite bad.

Still think Rowley goes to Leeds sooner or later

a) He doesn`t need the money (Turned down £250k pa from Hull)

b) Has a route after coaching to be DoR at the club.

c) Adored by the fan base

d) The deal offering Salford a huge cash injection is close.

e) His children are in important years at school and he doesn`t want upheaval there.

Sure he loves a challenge (has one every day at Salford) but it would need maybe a £500k contract to start.

Bleasey would then usurp The Snake Watson as most unpopular man in the City should PR go.

Brad Arthur is a fantastic coach and would be a great pick up for Leeds.

I'm sure Slammin Sam would prefer the Leeds squad so he could have a proper go at winning Super League.

Not a chance he was offered £250k a year by Hull.

I suspect this won't make sense to you but Rohan Smith looked much more impressive than Sam Burgess after his first season of Super League games.

Then he started to implement his own ideas!

What about Bill Arthur?

Leeds have to be careful now. Not in financial sense, but they are almost following Bradford. Years in the top 3, youngsters coming through, settled squad each year. Then a couple of things change and you are constantly chasing to keep up. You have to give credit to Saints and (One season aside) Wigan. They've got the model right. Maybe Catalans could be the new big boy?

The opinion piece was not very illuminating, in fact anyone of us on here could have wrote that. It was far too broad brush without identifying organisational specifics.

It is in poor contrast to John Wilkin opinion of meaningful insight and analysis including pinpointing the teams specific areas of poor performance..

That's the point though, it's not specific, the issues are a broad acceptance of mediocrity from the top down. We could make the props better and that wouldn't change things.

Its not wonderful insight following the multiple years of poor performance of the men's first team to not realise an acceptance of mediocrity has been creeping in. I would suggest that one of the major reasons a sporting director has been brought in is as part of the solution to changing the mediocrity acceptance.  Whether he is the right man to foster the organisation transformation time will tell all-be-it focused on the sporting director role.

I and him didn't say it was wonderful insight. It articulates frustrations.

yep, would agree. Anyway I think decision on coach will have already been made irrespective of new guy coming in and will in effect be existing decision makers making that decision.

I doubt that tbh. I genuinely think Blease is being given totally control over that, otherwise I think Smith would have gone earlier.

I agree, and that's the correct call.

If GH sacked Smith before Blease started that would just undermine him from the get go. If Blease sacks smith straight away it would look like no in depth analysis had gone on.

I do however fully expect Smith to have gone before we get back from the international break.

I agree 100% mate. 2 weeks and then a game against London seems an ideal opportunity to introduce a new coach if he is going to.

Very short turnaround though even then.

The big issue facing any Leeds Rhinos coach at the moment is the amount of concussions we are getting.

We've got 7 out this week.

Do we think the club are being very cautious because of the Legal action from Stevie Ward?

Possibly, our injury record seems to be horrendous over the past few years too

I do agree but I think decision is made just a matter of how its presented & timing taking account of Ian Blease joining and the "cosmetics" of it.  Its like a question... I think coach needs to go but I give you the time to come to same conclusion...

Well he's gone. The run to the Grand Final in 2022 was incredible but it's been continuously poor since then. I hope he finds another job somewhere as an assistant. There's a lot of Rugby League knowledge and ideas in there, it didn't pay off in the end at Leeds.

I think it's quite shame but think it had to be done. There's a lot of talent in the squad and it's clear they have been under performing. Next appointment is crucial as they can't keep hiring and firing.

Totally agree.

I hope he goes on to be successful and he hasn’t deserved the personal abuse he’s been getting

Yep would seem so, but I don't know how other clubs compare.

The Bentley & Gannon in particular stand out with regards to caution...
