The Right signings that add something to the team

Of the examples used, is Andrew Johns (three games and an absolute pumping off Hull in the play-offs) and a man, whose signing saw a breach in the salary cap, really as good examples as Hastings at Salford, Taia at Saints, Segerayo at Leeds, Watkins at Salford and Sammut to Crusaders?

Best example at Workington was when we brought in Rowland Phllips and Kevin Ellis on loan, the entire squad raised its level and it was like watching different teams from before they came.

It might be worth seeing if they're available for the rest of this season! 😂

Would walk into our current side, even at 50 years old 😂

As well as Fielden, Michael Dobson had a big impact on our team in 2006 too. Our halfbacks weren't working either until Dennis Moran left and he was brought in. Fielden gets cited more as his signing cost so much money whereas Dobson was a loan signing.

When Cas signed Mike Ford, Brad Davis and Richard McKell from Wakefield towards the end of 1997 Super League season it rescued them from probable relegation.  It didn't seem to matter to us at the time as Hull FC had the 2nd division title and promotion in the bag.

This world was never meant for one as beautiful as me.

I'm still of the opinion that David Fairleigh got an extra 10% out of every player at Saints when he was there, especially the overseas contingent. Probably the difference between failure and the huge success they had at the time.

Steve Menzies was a welcome and timely reminder to Les Dracs that, if you get someone with the right attitude to the club, their team-mates and the work needed, and who also thinks through and  understands the implications for them and their family of living in a foreign culture, then you can get a very good benefit from 30+ year old southern hemishpere players.

However, both club and player must do their homework before the contract is agreed and signed!

I think you will find that Kevin is 57 and Rowland 56,.................. still should still be able to do a job at Derwent Park😟

Jamie Peacock says:-

"But he’s building long-term and the club’s backing Daryl (Powell). Rightly so. He’s a proven record of delivering success and getting the most out of players."

Not this season he ain't Jamie, not by a long long way!

Not played a game as yet, but Lachlan Lam could prove to be the piece missing in the jigsaw that will ensure Leigh get promoted.

You could play halfback & Leigh would still get promoted.
