From a broadcasting point of view, it feels like something is happening right now.

That is great news, well done Channel 4.

Jam Eater  1.(noun. jam eeter) A Resident of Whitehaven or Workington. Offensive.  It is now a term of abuse that both towns of West Cumbria use for each other especially at Workington/Whitehaven rugby league derby matches.

Positive comment done

Can people now start focussing on the negatives

One negative is it says it is at 7 in the morning on a Saturday so I will be at work and will have to watch it on catch-up... 😔

...but at least there's a catch-up service to watch it on! 👍

Sorry, I made that into a positive didn't I?

Will it be a panthers NSW/jersey Flagg team?

I think the best thing about this news is that C4 have their SL contract but obviously wanted to go outside of that to get this fixture.

Really positive in terms of how they see the relationship with RL.

Saints to play the Dragons the week before also in a warm up game.

That makes sense, Wigan did similar before they played the Sydney City Roosters.

It does. The effect of the increased coverage from the BBC with the World Cups, and subsequent positive ratings and social media coverage, cannot be overestimated.

Will be interesting to see how 4 do it. Will they send a team down under or will they report from a studio over here?

Or they'll use the Aussie commentary...

Will Hopoate is out of the WCC*.

*He’s not but he most likely will be.

He's not even fit enough to start pre-season training let alone be ready for the WCC. At least with Wellens now in charge he won't be an automatic pick for Saints just because he's Tongan. He'll be 2nd choice centre (behind Percival & Hurrell), 3rd choice FB (behind Welsby & Bennison), and 3rd choice winger (behind Makinson, Ritson & Bennison)

Warriors were full of youngsters and I think Wigan won.

Wasn't that the one where Wane used all of his tactical genius against the young Warriors at half time?

Knock people out. I can't give you any more of a free rein than that".  Create f***ing mayhem. Be reckless."

Fast forward that season - Ben Flower explodes at Old Trafford and costs Wane a title.

Maybe he's learned some lessons since then - but it's still partly why I worry about him picking MM in high pressure games.
