England vs Samoa Series

England kit

I do like the kit but wonder if we have dropped the ball by not sticking with and building our brand around the V design. (which we had for the WC and Tonga test series). This colour scheme but with a V could have worked very well (VERY GB like) and continued to build our shirt brand around the V to differentiate from Football and Union.

Reminds me of the old England football kit from the 1980's.

"The history of the world is the history of the triumph of the heartless over the mindless." — Sir Humphrey Appleby.

"If someone doesn't value evidence, what evidence are you going to provide to prove that they should value it? If someone doesn't value logic, what logical argument could you provide to show the importance of logic?" — Sam Harris

I've lost the energy to get overly annoyed by this anymore. I wasn't a fan of the St George's cross design, but acknowledged that it did provide a noticeable visual point of difference between the RL and RU national teams, and therefore could have got on board with this if they'd have stuck with it. When they switched to a navy V (which I was personally more of a fan of) I thought ok - if this is the route they're going down then great, providing they stick with the concept to try and build some sort of brand recognition. Now 2 shirts later and they've already ditched it. I give it 5 years max before we revert to the St George's cross again.

The far bigger problem which I find far more annoying is the dearth of internationals. By the end of this year we'll have played 7 internationals in the last 2 years, and worn 3 different shirts! (Don't get me started about the MND shirt - it's an extremely worthy cause, but I don't think they should devalue the national team shirt by changing its colours for a charity. I can't think of any other major sport that has done this for a full international.)

Fully agree, I think the lines at the top made into a V would of been better, love the colours though

I sometimes think we overthink it. I dont think we have to always have a chevron, or a cross, I'm comfortable that we mix it up. Maybe that's because as a Wire fan we mix ours up substantially with chevrons, hoops, stripes, bands and plain kits.

I always think international kits should never stray away from the same design like Australia and NZ, that being said my 8 year old daughter absolutely loves the new kit and that's the biggest market I would think

best international jerseys for me.

That NZ and England shirt are awful. Why did NZ have a tie in with Formula 1? And.. That England shirt is better left in the past.

Tastes are funny aren't they, I agree with you. I don't think I could think of another Kiwi shirt that bad.

I couldn’t disagree more with you mate but we all have our own preferences and tastes.

Well done, you've just got the job as the RFL comms and PR director.

That’s what the designers thought too.

Thank you. What would you like me to sort out next?

The only slight problem is that no self respecting RFL comms director would have announced anything this early. Hopefully the shirt doesn't go on sale for a while or you'd be in real trouble.

Back on tickets … I looked at Headingley tickets and it stated that if you wanted to buy 10 or more, there are discounts available by emailing rugby league commercial.

l did this at the weekend and I’ve still had no reply to my enquiry about buying. Has anybody else had a similar issue? Really poor service to have no reply on 48hrs (excl weekend) when they should actively be trying to sell tickets.

They must be busy manning the fax machines.

I emailed them a while back and they replied the next day, do they still have a phone number with the new provider, that has worked for me before when I had non standard ticket bookings to make.

Yeah they probably do still have the phone number, and I’m sure I’ll be able to get them eventually. But it’s poor service for an event that they are unlikely to be over subscribed for!
