So they've finally been announced, well sort of. No big announcement detailing  everything on the NRL site and you can only get the gist from different sources. The only mention on the NRL site is a Mal Meninga revenge piece with little facts. At least they are being played:

New Zealand schedule:

Pacific Championships schedule:

The 2024 Pacific Championships is a two-tiered competition, with men’s and women’s teams from across the Pacific competing for the Pacific Cup and the Pacific Bowl.

The Championships will include two match days in New Zealand, with the Grand Finals to be played in Sydney, Australia on November 10.

Kiwi and Kiwi Ferns full schedule below:

Sunday 27 October

Pacific Cup – New Zealand v Australia (men and women) at Apollo Projects Stadium, Christchurch

Saturday 2 November

Pacific Cup – New Zealand v Tonga (men) at Go Media Stadium, Auckland

Sunday 3 November

Pacific Cup – New Zealand v Papua New Guinea (women) at Santos Stadium, Port Moresby

Sunday 10 November

Pacific Cup men’s and women’s Grand Final in Sydney, Australia

RTS declares for Samoa too which bolsters them for the England tour:

Kiwis coach Stacey Jones says Roger Tuivasa-Sheck has pledged his international allegiance to Samoa.

Roger Tuivasa-Sheck played 20 Test matches for the Kiwis but upon his return to rugby league after switching to union, he’s opted to play for Samoa.

“I’ve had talks to Roger and he indicated when he came back to the game he wanted to play for Samoa, represent his family, which I respect," Jones told 1News.

"I said to Rog, 'I would love you to be available for the Kiwis', and he thought really hard, but he had already made his decision when he came back to rugby league to represent Samoa which I respect."

That is huge for Samoa. Also the fact that these stars are still willing to play for the PIs is encouraging.

Be good to see the full schedule instead of trying to piece it together like a puzzle, but looks to be some good premium grounds being used. Going to places that broadly deliver, looks like some learnt from last year.

The IRL just announce what the NZRL did and their schedule:

Kiwis to host Pacific Championships fixtures (intrl.sport)

All very amateurish and small time. Good venues though like you say but as usual just feels like a token effort that the NRL feel they have to do.

Surely NZ men aren’t playing on both 2nd and 3rd November.

So do we know how many players from Samoa and Tonga will have players from their domestic leagues players or are both teams packed with heritage players or players who moved to Australia and New Zealand when kids?

I only ask the question.

It wasn’t aimed at you specifically. It was more to do with the direction the thread might now go. It’s a delicate subject

My point is though we are not going to grow the game in Tonga, Samoa etc if the authorities don't encourage the game to grow at local level there by giving local players the chance at least to be part of the national squad.

I think I'm right in saying that Jamaica had some players from their domestic league in their squad at the last world cup.

It is a few orders of magnitude easier to analyze the make up of the squads after the squads are announced.

Clearly a skill issue with my reading. I've just come from Specsavers as well.

The domestic game and interest has grown though on the back of the national team. Progressing to the NRL and maybe the national team is a big carrot as is for any budding Rugby player in the PI nations.

From my point of view I would just like to see a little bit for example if they have a 25 man squad for an international tournament i would like to see at least 5 of that squad from the local league.
