Officials for Saturday

  • Referee: A. Belafonte
  • Reserve Referee: K. Moore
  • Touch Judge 1: S. Quarmby
  • Touch Judge 2: O. Salmon

Any idea what the admission price is?

£15 is a sensible price.   Well done someone......

Could be a tough one with us having some former local community players now in the side m, but I think we shall prevail.

It’ll be either:

Moor 12-20 Dewsbury or

Moor 12-44 Dewsbury

FTS: Collinson

MoM: Jordan

Att: 842

Legs, Dews, Legs.

Good job, done well..... Couldn't have done much more right in the first half and did what was needed in the second half..... Moor did themselves no favours with two needless sin-bins but overall I think everyone can go away happy with their efforts..... And a good 1200+ crowd

Good crowd of 1250

Rams were too strong for Moor but credit to them, they kept going, though their discipline went down.

Ferguson put in a good stint and great to see Sam Day back.

Alot of bs from rams about money etc.

Moor isn't some small operation, they'll turnover 100/thousands a year,  dewsbury tried pulling a fast one, on clued up business folk.

Probably not the topic for starting this but rams/dews have done nothing for rl in the last 20yr in dewsbury.

Celtic/thornhil/cross/moor are all bigger clubs, more members  and keep the sport Alive.

Demographics are changing.

You are probably right and I'm sure most Rams fans are members of those clubs as well.

To turnover "hundreds of thousands a year", Dewsbury Moor (who I played for as a junior) would need to turnover a minimum £4000 per week 52 weeks a year.

Given how MS has acted over the last 20+ years, I doubt he "tried to pull a fast one". I'd suggest MS is quite a "clued up" businessman.

I enjoyed yesterday, thought it was a good crowd and a good game. Understand why Moor didn't want to play at Dewsbury.

Overall outside of SL most amateur clubs with big junior sections do more than semi-professional clubs. They fulfill a different function. But Rams are trying to engage with local amateur clubs, but semi-pro RL is a shoestring operation.

Where is this BS that you cite? I haven't seen it in any press releases.

What was the fast one?

Sport, amongst other things, is a dream-world offering escape from harsh reality and the disturbing prospect of change.

A half decent game to watch with the outcome pretty clear after 20 minutes. I can't say that I really learned much about the team from this display except that it will be a much more difficult season than some have been forecasting. Results elsewhere should give the coaching staff reason for concern - "easy" matches will be few and far between this year.

A decent crowd should have put a few bob into the Moor coffers. If Batley win today will the crowd there on the 9th be any bigger?

They'll take more than 4k a week without even trying.

I wouldn’t disagree either. We (Dewsbury) have managed to put a side on the park for the last 2 decades, kept the lights on and little else. The amateur clubs mentioned have all run junior, open age and ladies sides and been a force for good in their communities.

Hopefully we can forge better links with these teams for the benefit of RL in the town going forward.

I would imagine for starters would be good to fratenise with oppo seeimg as grass roots community football is whete they began, officials and fans after game upstairs. Lead to believe that a sharp exit was arranged after getting changed. Poor form

'Shaw cross juniors, Birkenshaw, Mirfield, Heckmondwike Panthers, Stainland Stags and then the Heavy woolen donkeys... WARDY, STOZZA, GT, KARL OR KEAR MUST OF DROPPED A DIGIT FROM MY MOBILE NUMBER! :clapping:

Largely due its social function in the community. The Rams isn't a social club, it's semi pro RL club providing a level of football no socially led club can achieve. It does it to a set of minimum standards that community based clubs don't want to strive for.

Apples and pairs.

They don't need brass apparently BSJ.   They're just behind the Rhinos and Wigan in the finale stakes, didn't you know....

Exactly. It's a community hub.

Possibly dewsburys biggest amateur rugby club, which has provided countless players to dewsbury rams over the years.
