Tommygilf
I always liked the one that went with Engage. Was very consistent and had the word Rugby in it. The Blue and gold looked good too and was consistent. Though the changing of competition logos in line with sponsors seems to be the way of things. RUs premiership for example. Spidey
I'd imagine it's a selling point of the sponsorship to have a company logo integrated into the SL logo

EastLondonMike
Possibly because no one at the RFL/Superleague has a clue about branding. Not only has it changed in look in the last few years with each new sponsor, the 'S' that forms the shape of a rugby ball has also always changed. There's no consistency. Its very poor. Brand guidelines should exist, and within those guidelines should be a process for adding sponsor logos to the existing SL branding, though I'm not sure such a thing does exist. NickG14
I'd imagine it's a selling point of the sponsorship to have a company logo integrated into the SL logo The old logos had the sponsors name at the top of the Super League logo though. Their still trying to use the S in the old logo but I think it's making it look cheap and tacky. The S shoulder be instantly recognisable and be associated with the SL just as the lion is associated with the PL
The Daddy
The Super League brand in itself is tired, the concept died a death when Super League Australia died and further still when London, Bradford, Sheffield, Gateshead and Paris left the top flight. TheReaper
I'd agree that the league should have a logo that doesn't change- look at the instant recognition you have with the NFL, NHL logos etc. The again, the idea of having a naming sponsor for the competition seems strange to a North American, let alone their logo actually being on it. Henson Park Old Firm
Super league uses too many different S new logo and trophy are totally different. Rename it Rugby Premier League bam instant winner.... ps change the trophy also out dated it and looks weird.

My favourite trophy in sport is the NRL trophy. Do we have such an iconic image in our game that represents part of the games history and is still able to keep fans of all clubs happy? 2014 Challenged Cup Winner

Wiltshire Rhino
Challenge Cup is by far a nice trophy. The Challenge Cup is a wonderful trophy and is my 2nd favourite. I just prefer the NRL trophy. Now if a newly branded RPL created a trophy to award to the winners of our Grand Final which is as good, if not better than the Provan-Summons one, then we will have two trophies as great as our game. 2014 Challenged Cup Winner
Dave T
Super League is fine and whilst people talk about other comps SL's I do think there is good awareness of our brand. Rugby Premiership or PL or similar would be a terrible decision.
Henson Park Old Firm
the RPL has a nice ring to it, both the nrl and challenge cup trophy are great.... Dave T
As an aside i think the FA Premier League has done a fantastic job with their rebrand this year. Has been really freshened up and looks great despite in reality being tweaks. Funnily enough yheir logo is just a lion head.

Yeah that "instant recognition" of nfl and nhl...sports with a tiny percentage of their viewers being from outside the US and Canada. It's really worked great for them. Logo (by and large) doesn't mean jack in terms of interest. The Premier League is the most watched sports league on the planet and I can barely visualise the logo..it changes all the time. The name has also changed...Carling Premiership, Barclays Premier League...doesn't change its status one iota. It's all about the product. In terms of Superleague, If you play in small arenas infront of sparse crowds, and the league is seen as second tier to the sports other major league (nrl), it's that that will affect status, not some gimmicky logo. Branding and appearance is important, hence the millions that businesses spend on it, but you are right that it wont drive thpusands of fans through the gates. EastLondonMike
Those sports may have a tiny percentage of viewers outside the US (though i actually doubt that), but every one of those brands is instantly recognisable, to pretty much all sports fans, even if they don't watch.Good branding is everything if you want to appeal. Having a good product is no longer enough. The RFL may have employed a good agency to freshen up the SL branding, but it didn't need a rebrand, just a freshen up. In modern day sports you need a brand ID that is timeless and wont appear dated in a few years, and one that works across all platforms. Web, print and merchandise. Possibly the best example is the Chicago Bulls. A logo that was created 60 years ago.The current/future SL Betfred branding is completely different from the SL/First utility branding, which was also completely different from the SL/Stobart branding, which was different again from the SL/sponsor branding prior to that.Add a creative director to the list of things needed at the RFL. To control and develop the visual ID of the game. Though i can't see that happening anytime soon. Newham Dockers - Champions 2013. Yakstorm
What kind of statement is: "With the new brand identity firmly in place, RFL brand recall and perception is now top of the league. Result." It would be nice if there was even some dodgy 'market research' backing up such a statement. Anyway onto brand, it's not just Super League that they've found a way to butcher the brand, there is nothing linking Super League to any of the other Rugby League competitions the RFL run. At least under Richard Lewis there was a conscious effort to create some form of uniformity across brands (yes it could have been done better but it was on the right track) I'd post some logos on here, but it isn't working on my mobile. Regardless, look at Engage Super League, Co-operative Championships, Carnegie Challenge Cup, Probiz World Club Challenge and Gillette Tri-Series logos and you'll see what I mean PACIFIQUE TREIZE: Join the team by registering as a fan today at pacifique13.com
