SBW signs for Toronto - Confirmed

I think Williams is a phenomenal athlete and talent, but I trust him about as much as I'd trust John Inverdale.

But if any club can parley his status into positive publicity and sponsors' cash (before $BW flounces off to pastures new because he finds out that Canada also has plenty of washed-out, overweight boxers he can "fight"), it is Toronto.

Was reported he has been given part of the buisness. Not sure what that means.

It means he is in long term.

They're getting ready for a public share offering, he's been given an ownership share as part of the deal.

Which means he has a vested interest in the success of the team, both now and in future, and no reason to leave.

Like them or not over the last few years Toronto have generated more publicity and media coverage for the game than any other club

Great signing. Hope they have a few more tricks up their sleeve

Would be interesting to guage the interest this is generating in Toronto though. Do the locals know what they have got or is there more of a fuss over here

Anyway looking forward to seeing him in action against Saints. Should be fun

it's really making the news here...

And we still got to three pages (and counting)!

Thats further than some of the first posters thought it would get... But given the current situation I think we're getting near the end

News travels fast...even the belugas in Canadas North have heard of the signing and are taking up the sport!

Normal negative stuf from usual suspects. This is big for code. Hiding in the bunker ie (northern England and east coast australia) after watching union wc will simply see our code swallowed in the long term. Toronto just the start.

Time to take head our of the sand.

Excellent

‘‘We have a really good IT department and server, and it crashed," he said. "We had 70,000 people trying to access it the minute it went live. Some very large companies have contacted us to get involved. I’m meeting a producer from Hollywood who is flying out on Sunday from LA to meet with me, he wants to shoot the true, gritty behind-the-scenes of how and why we’re here, the story of our road to the Super League.’’

Seems as if Meninga want to play TWP in 2020 as part of the Aussie warm up and a few comments on how it’s good for the game in NA that SBW is now signed.

i also read that Jamie Soward has been over there coaching.  Nothing high level but might have been part of a fact finding trip.

This quote from Elstone.

As a club entering SL, doing so much more than we have EVER done to be promoting the game, and NOT receiving a central distribution from the TV money pot, I find dishonouring.

However - I truly hope Wolfpack do get the most incredible TV deal, which outshines that which SL negotiates for all their efforts and actually, sacrifice and investment. And they get to keep the TV deal they create for themselves. It hopefully will make the small-mindedness of all our M62 clubs sit up and take notice. The world is changing. Stop being parochial.

Thank you Toronto Wolfpack for re-igniting my own personal interest in RL

I’d totally agree, this has got me interested in RL again too. I don’t think even it’s biggest fan could quite see how inward looking it had become. It was heading to be like a Roy Cropper sport, with everything beige and safety first. With this and the game at Spurs next year, there may be hope yet.

It's just had a mention on CNN .I would have liked it better if they had not implied he was primarily a RU player
