M j M
Mike Danson, the owner of the New Statesman and 128th richest person in the country, has taken a substanial stake in Wigan RL. Wonder if this is related to ambitions to buy the soccer club or if it's purely RL-related. Or both.

Number 16
The irony of one of Britain's richest men owning the New Statesman. By buying into a Rugby League club maybe he thinks it'll establish his working class Socialist credentials!
Man of Kent
I’ve worked with people who’ve worked for Danson. Let’s just say he is a strange fruit. That said, he’s turned round the New Statesman from a low ebb. Maybe he sees value in rugby league?
Mr Frisky
I would be more impressed if Ted Danson had invested...

I guess Wigan players will be bending the knee left (obviously) right and centre from now on. He is worth well over 600million. (!!!) Sold a IT company and so that be where the Warriors chairman comes in. It may be that he is involved in this Wigan Athletic business. If so he will make more money out of that than the New Statesman! But looking into this he has business links in America. 'These are deep waters, Watson.'

So I'll take it!

If he's buyinging into Wigan that explains their recent Toronto U-Turn perfectly.....

I understand the local Baron (Deryk De Beaumont) applied for City status for Leigh in 1342 when Hamburg were on the verge of being thrown out of the Hanseatic League due to unpaid bills and plans to drop their city status as a tax write off, but were rejected due a mysterious last minute bail out for Hamburg and Leigh not having a coach station.
