Scotland RL

Recommended Posts

Strathmore were a great side but nothing since 2022, they had a really good youth program for RL but relied a lot on RU players, so sadly I think there no more

On a positive note,  the other weekend in Edinburgh, 60+ u16s u19s took part in a development day, great turn out and it’s hoped they get directed through club pathways.
Small steps yeah but again a step forward

Went to the Chorley v Glasgow friendly.

Apparently there are 6 teams in Scotland, 1 of which is in Aberdeen.

Hope the game grows in Scotland.

Only 4 teams at the moment unless the SRL know something different

Apparently Scotland are playing the Netherlands this year, great news for the Netherlands but as usual little or no news coming from the SRL

Hope it’s true and I’m guessing the composition of the Scottish team will hopefully involve local lads

Aberdeen Warriors folded a few years back but there was talk of them reforming. I’m not sure if they’ve played any matches since folding.

Sadly Scotland RL has always been on the back foot (Whatever happened to the youth development in Glasgow?)

Let both Scotland and Ireland develop along amateur lines, Wales needs 100%  support out of the 3 thats where we have a real chance.

It will be because we really haven’t moved forward for years, but Forth Glasgow Edinburgh are pushing forward, and we’ve had more activity this year with the students, U16s,U19s and wheelchair RL than ever before

Slow progress but its progress, keep the faith 🤣

Scottish Premiership Rd1

Edinburgh 38 Glasgow 28

Taken from the Warriors FB page

THE REVOLUTION TAKE THE CHAMPIONS TO THE WIRE.

EDINBURGH EAGLES 38- 28 GLASGOW RUGBY LEAGUE

In a performance to be proud of where Glasgow lead at half time at the home of the champions Edinburgh Eagles, with winger Cameron Matthews scoring a brace and some debuts to remember from new faces we narrowly lose out in the end to a well drilled Edinburgh side.

We move onto to stopping a home invasion when we face Forth Valley Vikings in 2 weeks time.

Try scorers:

Cameron Matthews x 2
Ross Moir x 1
Arran Jamieson x 1
Cammy Oehme x 1

Goals:

Gregg Oehme x 3
Nick Thorburn x 1

MOTM:

Cameron Matthews

Scotland have many hard steps ahead of them but this is a positive place to begin rebuilding. Credit to Glasgow, Edinburgh and Forth Valley for keeping the flag flying.

Result from Hillfoots

Forth Valley 20 - 24 Edinburgh

really close game, despite the lack of teams , the 3 we have Glasgow and Forth have certainly closed the gap on Edinburgh

Thats good to see. It'll be really interesting to see how they get on against the Netherlands, who seem to be doing a lot of good stuff.

Over the weekend we saw Glasgow taking on reigning champions Edinburgh in Glasgow with Edinburgh coming out on top in a close fought match 30-20

As seen above Scotland A team to meet The Netherlands is announced for the match 14th September in the Netherlands, let’s hope we see more of these in the coming year

Out of curiosity, is it "Scotland A" because it is only domestic players, or is it the second Scotland 17 (ie including domestic players in the top 17)?
