Farewell Jimmy Maloney

He's improved his form a lot since he first joined the Dragons. Shame he can't manage one more season with them.

Dual premiership winner , playing a prominent role in both . Big part of Roosters three minor premierships in a row , Origin rep playing in a  side that won over a dominant Maroons . I’d say his record matches up with the best in recent times and does make him a modern great in making the most of what he had and his influence of teams

Not a great, but a very good player who’s had an outstanding career and I’m glad he’s found his form this year after a disappointing first season at the Catalans.

I could suggest that this is down to good coaching.

Sport, amongst other things, is a dream-world offering escape from harsh reality and the disturbing prospect of change.

What’s the story with Lezignan? Interesting that they are becoming a retirement home for some big names. Where’s the money coming from?

As an aside, it would be great if it was somehow possible next year to make a road trip to see matches in Toulouse, Carcassonne, Lezignan and Perpignan within the same week while Super League & Elite 1 are ongoing (assuming TO are promoted).

Wow.... Wonder if it's money or 'the experience' he's in it for

It sounds like he loves living in the south of France and is keen to stay there for a couple of more years. Its a good way to stay and keep playing RL at a lower, less demanding level.

The budget will be the same for the coming season. The sponsors are loyal and the municipality continues to support the club. The club has had the means to win the title for several years, for example the year we signed Tim Simona, players like Mitch Allgood or Jordan Dezaria signed for Lézignan before going elsewhere. I read a lot of jealousy in the comments of supporters of other clubs. This season, the club is betting not to recruit foreign players that we have to bring in, house, equip (car) etc. with a random level of rugby. James Maloney is a professional player who wants to have a good time in France without having the constraints of the Super League. Sam Tomkins has already made it known that he plans to do the same in the future. It's a chance for the French championship. Other clubs could do the same, but we are taking advantage of the proximity to Perpignan. Lézignan is less than an hour from Perpignan. It is an Elite club that tries to combine a certain high standard but also to be a family club. This is what particularly appeals to players. We invite you to come and enjoy our beautiful region. Much less touristy than Catalonia, with a certain art of living that combines the pleasures of life in a preserved natural setting. FYI, the club will reorient its communication strategy around wine and the many wineries that support it.

Could another French league team be invited into league one ?

FC.Lezignan never wanted to play in League One. A few years ago when we had won the championship 4 times in a row and had two doubles, we loved playing against great English teams in the cup (Whitehaven x2, Workington x2, Rochdale, Barrow, Widnes, Sheffield, Oldham, Featherstone) even if we regret never having hosted a match. But the club's goal has never been and never will be to play a league in England. Our leaders believe in the French Championship and we want the best possible championship.

Great to see so many ex pros in the French elite. Hopefully Lézignan will use him to teach the younger players in the first team  and coaching sessions for the players through the rugby school.

Which is something the club should have done with the foreign players over the years, only a couple of first grade players have ever got involved with the rugby school.
