So you do not have an answer

Are Leigh on £150k this year or £550k? It was you who quoted the £150k figure. If it is £550 that is 3.5x the amount of every other club in the Championship.

Leigh are in a mess of there own doing so are constantly gambling in a Watford FC style manner in the hope of getting it right. It may pay off but if it doesn't it often falls to pieces because it is built on straw. Leigh have enough individual players to get promoted but can they create the sustainable culture to get the job done and kick on?

I also don't actually agree with your comments about Toulouse building a "young" squad. Their dominance last season in the Championship was built around Remy Casty, Mitch Garbutt and Harrison Hansen.

Those 3 were there especially to bolster the defence and bring some grown ups into the pack. They did what was asked. I would be more than happy to bring more young, especially French, players into the team, but the risk is of course being relegated back into the championship.

Would TO want to stay competing in the championship? Or would they go back to competing in the French league.

You need to give your head a wobble and a quick syringe of the lugholes.

1. Leigh are not in a mess, the last mess was about 2013 when ownership moved after Arthurs passing.

2. To facilitate the opportunity to stay in SL, without another clubs implosion, you must have a near SL club in the championship and the costs associated to do so

3. To fund a £1.4M'ish type spend you will get one shot, unless someone is prepared to put a million in Y2 etc, hence using the £550k or whatever it is in a single year

4. Any club with £160k central funding could win the Championship with a PT squad and £500k spend, they then have to almost totally rebuild when in SL and with recruitment on hold til October that is a huge ask

5 There is a reason since promotion was reintroduced in 2015 that few have achieved it, and all have been FT spending well above the rest.

Maybe do what York are doing. 4 young York lads have come through the Excel Programme into the first team this year and we haven't got a scholarship or an academy.

Or you could just waste loads of money on overseas quota players who won't be allowed to play for you next year if you get promotion, so you'll come straight back down again as you've had to build a new quad full of players everyone else didn't want. Again.

I am wondering how the relationship with Leeds works at Academy level? Do york simply invite all non scholarship players 12-16 to attend the training in the hope they can pick a diamond up at 16 who has been missed by the big boys, sign him up and get him into Leeds fantastic structures who develop him for free and have no claim to him?

At Leigh Wigan/Saints/Wire just hoover up Leighs best kids into their scholarships and Academies, but I suppose having those 3 within 10 miles has its disadvantages.....

That is a #### or bust model and if it is not #### then it will probably be a mass exodus. Clubs working like that could do without a direct rival like Fev who have been quietly building a culture and squad for the last 3-4 years.

And will need 75% of a new squad if they go up , it is what it is

In that case if these 4 lads from York are SL standard , you'd better get a move on and win promotion , because if you don't , they'll be gone in an instant

But Toulouse did exactly that and were then told by nearly everyone they'd get whacked every week in SL.

Rather than go after Leilua or Ferguson they brought in players like Ashalt-Bott, Robson and Hankinson who they could fit into their culture. With a good coach and a settled squad their results are improving. They may not survive but could well keep the majority of the squad together for a push back to SL.

Leigh have got half their squad on contracts with perforated pages to make them easier to tear up in October plus DRs. If they don't get up this year we will probably get the crazy events that happened a few years ago all over again.

Culture and stability always gives you a chance - because if you get it right (as Catalans finally did) then the sky is the limit as your pathways keep delivering.

Let me tell you I have friends at the Toulouse club and they are less than the perfect example, they used all their quota spots through mismanagement before they reached SL and then realised they had none left when they got there as they didn’t realise there is a limit in SL, and their best players Keirallah & Ford count on the quota so no SL team was willing to take a punt on them.

Hankinson, Bott etc we’re picked up because they were English and young. Now they have sacked Keirallah & Ford expect them to dip into overseas.

It would be interesting to know who your "friends" are. The club have always known about the quota limits. Now Kheirallah has finally been shown the door it opens another door to someone else, but who?

It’s a shame they forced him out cold, I would have liked to see him play in SL especially after he had a Covid pass for a few weeks and could have played the opening few games, the restrictions have now been reduced over there it was all for nothing really.

It was a matter of trust, and that meant more to the club than his years as a player

Catalans were helped along the way with firstly being excempt from being relegated and then being a club awarded a SL licence so another 3 years with no relegation and still they signed many many overseas players and were still on the MPG in '17, So I would say being a club in the Championship who has one shot at staying in SL after being promoted is somewhat different to Catalans expierence.

Are Wire in for this guy?  Fox News saying a SL club chasing him and that Wire are the only ones with space on the Cap.  Not sure of the others who are below cap - must be a couple.

$200k aus.

Surely Wire will wait for a prop to become available?! It would be typical of them to bring him in and let him knock Thewlis or Wrench down the pecking order but they have more pressing needs at the minute and even Fitzpatrick and his bag of gimmicks must realise that.

Yes you would think!

Ryan Sutton has signed a 3-year deal with the Dogs, get him on a season-long loan as he is out in the cold at the Raiders atm.

Living in Warrington, rumours are rife that Warrington are ‘well after’ Leigh’s prop Tom Amone.

They may have to wait but if they splash he cash early doors who knows ?  We got six figures for Bryson Goodwin and he never played for us 😂
