TBH until all the facts are known IMO its McBanana who's caused all this negativity. Given his own chairman has a long history of mouthing off and making false accusations, and has only just served a match ban for such behaviour you'd think McBanana would know better than to start making accusations like this in public.

None of us know exactly what was said in that private meeting or the context anything was said in as nobody else, including McBanana was there.

Ignoring the childish names, this is right. A head coach raising stuff like this is weird, and really small-minded.

I'd be very surprised if Thewlis said that Catalans bring nothing to the game. But one of the things that absolutely should be discussed with IMG is what the strategy is for France, and how commercial revenues will be driven by bringing France RL into the UK structure.

That conversation is all perfectly valid, and there is a long history of Catalans paranoia - even down to claims that refs are constantly against them.

It'd be nice if we move on from all this nonsense which is just about creating divisions in the game.

They are averaging 4600 I think. With 2 home games left against Hull and Catalans I think they will be close to the 5k average I mentioned.

Good luck to Widnes with their crowds. It's a shame they aren't pushing for SL as the current Championship favourites are only averaging 2,939 from their 9 home league games this season.

Games are not worth attending if you like a contest (Fev the exception) they have become foregone conclusions you could say the team has become a victim of their success.

A point well made... well made... well made... well made....

Was that the case last year too? Crowds of 2,800 (Leeds) in August and 2,900 (Wakefield) in September?

So Derek has assembled the most expensive team in Leigh's 40-year history (since the Championship) and the fans can't be arsed to go because they are winning. If they are losing every week the fans can't be arsed to go either.

Was Goldilocks and the 3 bears set in WN7?

Last season was almost the opposite case. A broken team, broken club almost, that should never have even applied to be in Super League in the first place. And performances didn't do nearly enough to persuade people to attend when restrictions allowed.

However, it would be nice to be able to have a conversation about what we hope to achieve with the game in France, without it turning into a snipefest comparing individual clubs. What does the sport want to gain from having 2 clubs in SL? How do they plan to get it? Will there be more clubs from overseas in SL, and if so, will the league be made bigger to avoid reducing number of full time British clubs? Who's responsibility is it to sell rights for French broadcasting? Have the sport approached anyone to sell streaming rights, which can cover both UK and Europe either combined or as separate deals? Has Brexit affected the plans that might have been in place for French / UK RL?

Would've though these would be more relevant questions on a thread about IMG meetings & French teams, than questions about attendances at two Leigh games.

The snipe fest was started by the same people who bring Leigh into seemingly every thread on here regardless of the topic. If they do, it will not go unchallenged.

Regular French internationals and a competitive France for which we need Elite French teams and therefore a nice shiny new international market., a French derby not scheduled on Thursday by tools.  2)I have no idea. 3) I assume so, we have enough clubs with infrastructure for a 14 team league and if we really grew in France,  2 10´s would be possible. 4)It is the responsibility of the leading body in the sport now after the seperation, so RFL and I guess IMG.

Hopefully IMG can convert all of this into some sort of plan. My fear is that the RFL have just pinned their hopes on Catalans and Toulouse (and previously Toronto) to do well, and that benefits would just come.

Why do Toulouse not play in the French League. I know that will seem like a really strange question, but I was just wondering ?

They do... as do Catalans.

Fancy a game of touch in Cambs or Lincs? DM me

Quite. On the one hand, there is no plan, on the other, its everything is up to those "expansion" clubs to do.

No plan. No strategy. Success seems in spite of everything.

Most of the clubs aren't full time and can't afford to be. Leigh are and should be included in a ful time structure. The French clubs aren't taking anyone's spot and the sport won't be served by replacing them with well run semi-professional community clubs.

If they get along to as many matches as you do there would be even less on the terraces, you talk a good game Scubby what's your motto "I don't support any team, I just sit on the fence and make as many snide remarks as possible" well the game would be thriving with a million of your sort wouldn't it!

Well in this thread as in many others Leigh was not brought into it by any Leigh fans, maybe we should show some sympathy to the hard of thinking and not bite back but it is hard when it is constant.

Sorry, but I'm not having that for one minute. French RL is amazing and we should have more teams in the Super League Europe table. 🤠

Exactly the reason why Catalan and Toulouse should be in the SL/Championship system!

As for people bringing Leigh into this discussion, you know as well as anyone who the posters who's views you and others respect, and who are just trolling. Let the snide comments by them pass by and we can have proper discussions instead of the majority of threads turning into Leigh bashing/defending. It doesn't do the Leigh club or fans any favours.

I don't have a team Harry. I don't live in the heartlands. I attend internationals and major events and spend a lot of money doing that.

Am I a supporter of the game or a fan?

You seem quite content in your views that some RL followers are better than others which is a shame.
