Was thinking the same thing. When we talk about marketing - this is quite a good example - ever since the announcement of this series, I don't think I have seen anything else from anyone over here.

I was already going to go but anyone who was undecided could be swayed with players like RTS declaring

I see the RFL once again continuing with their strategy of not putting all tickets on sale, even in smaller grounds.

Whole stands not put on sale is a real low point, but last year they were filling seats with community dancers and corporate boxes with the players families so they clearly haven't found the people who want to buy tickets for these "events".

That's hardly a surprise when they are played at bog standard SL grounds in small northern towns. Its hardly anything that will attract corporates.

Only way forward is for private investment to buy the England brand cover the costs and pay the powers to be a fixed fee.

The trouble is it doesn't really change much with the international game the way it is.

Surely it's not the only way forward as we've played in Higher profile stadia several times before. Our problem seems to be that we don't want to do in outside a world cup against anyone other than Australia or New Zealand

I could forgive that if the plan was to go all out and get 20/25k, prove demand and then progress onto bigger grounds.

However I worry that we aren't doing anything different to last year and we'll end up with 16k again.

M62 RL fans will only ever turn out in numbers for Australia and New Zealand.

London is a no brainer.

England v France PNG Samoa Tonga Fiji and even the Cook Islands in places like Norwich Brighton Plymouth Bristol Birmingham would if promoted right pack the stadiums out.

Organise it on a long term basis

Put the promotions team in locally nice and early

It's ENGLAND 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Win win for everyone and on the back of it if some local RL loon starts an amateur club even better

I totally agree, it's a clearly flawed strategy as it is currently.

Indeed! We are currently aiming to fail, and falling short of that. The way things are going at the moment, I expect the crowds per game to be lower this year than last.

My post was a typo, that 16k was too high! I fear 12-15k again!

I was thinking of emailing the RFL to ask them about it but I actually emailed them after the recent GB or England survey and had no response. Anyone else had much job with the RFL responding to correspondence?

I emailed the tickets email to ask if they would be opening the seats behind the post at Headingley, they said they didn't have any information on that, but they replied quickly.

Is their any news officially on how these are selling?

I would like to go the game at Headingley but due to family commitments won't know if I'm able to go until close to the date.....I take it from this thread their is no risk of it selling out?

I wouldn't worry about that!

Hopefully no injuries at the end of year. If everyone's injury free we'll see a strong Samoan team tour England. If Luai is committed then you can expect Stephen Critchon, Brian To'o to follow him. Haas is also another player I'm interested to see if he'll commit to Samoa especially when he's always around those guys during the nsw camp. Haas also liked the Samoa vs England confirmation post on the Samoan page so anythings possible. I'm just hoping Samoa gives England a good contest on tour because it's going to be very tough to beat England at home.

Nah, this heritage stuff just won’t cut it.

England v the Cook Islands in Norwich would definitely not be packed out, or did you mean Plantation Park the home of Norwich United FC?

I suppose you can say that if you ignore 20k+ crowds v France, PNG, Ireland and Fiji.

World Cup different

Your point was fans will only turn out for matches against Australia and NZ. You can't just say a World Cup is different when that statement is shown to be incorrect.

World Cups are different for all different reasons, the promotion, marketing and lead in time are completely different for starters compared to cobbled together fixtures a few months in advance. Let's try that for a test match and see how we get on before making blanket statements.
