But I have faith in the board. Look at where we are now compared with 2 years ago. People come and go, not always of their own wishes. Look at last season, the number of players 'discarded'. That's sport. Just look at Muuray from workington, signed for keighley as head coach, who then dumped him before he had a chance to start. Shez will walk into another job, no doubts. Reading between the lines I think one of the senior players will take over as assistant. As someone earlier said we have more coaches than Barlow's. I wonder if Matty Ashurst will come in as an assistant coach hence why the announcement of his signing has not yet been released. Just my thoughts as I genuinely don’t know. Or it could simply be that everyone is remaining totally professional and waiting for Wakefield’s season to conclude. I’m sure Longy will put a 2.00am call into the press when the time is right! Couldn’t resist sorry.

Reading between the lines I think one of the senior players will take over as assistant. As someone earlier said we have more coaches than Barlow's. I also believe in what the club are trying to do. If Longy / Fordy feel that this is the right rugby decision, then so be it. Players and coaches move on. That's sport and I've got no problem with the decision. However, clearly the way it's been handled is poor. At times like these, the club needs to hold it's hand up, accept responsibility (even if it was a simple mistake) and apologise for how this was handled. Masquerading as aliases on social media, purely to have a go at supporters at the slightest bit of criticism, doesn't sit right with me and certainly won't help matters. I think we all know only too well from recent history what happens when the club starts to alienate people. God forbid we go down that road again.
m brooksy Posted October 8, 2024 Posted October 8, 2024 Does sound like a bit of mix up rather than anything nefarious in terms of how he was let go. I will say I've never quite understood some fans love of Sheridan. I'm sure he's a decent bloke but he's been here for 5 seasons and 4 of them were probably 4 of the worst seasons in most people's lifetime. We barely won a game in his first two seasons. 2022 up there with the worst Oldham team I've ever seen and 2023 only started to turn around after Quinn and Fordy rejoined. 2
Bert Street Posted October 8, 2024 Posted October 8, 2024 Fairly classy and comprehensive from the Chairman. 4
Oldham Valderama Posted October 8, 2024 Posted October 8, 2024 Cant argue with that, open and honest response from Mr Quinn. No one is infallible and your not going to get everything right all of the time, as he says the 2am call was an unfortunate mistake but no hidden agenda there just a bit of a #### up. Professional sport is a ruthless game and to get to the top tough decisions have to be made which not everyone will agree with. From a fan's perspective I'd like to thanks Mr Sheridan for the part he has played in getting Oldham to where they are now and wish him well for his future endeavours. 5
Dave Naylor Posted October 8, 2024 Posted October 8, 2024 In 2023 and then 2024 I dragged my Mrs over to Oldham to help photograph the players/staff headshots etc. All the promotional pics that showed the players in a studio environment for the past few years were done by us. Anyway, this year, Shez walked in to have his done and made a point of saying "Oh, hello again you two, nice to see you both." Top bloke. 2
Happyed Posted October 10, 2024 Posted October 10, 2024 Rumours have dried up. Come on let’s have some big news to end the week yeds!
SUPERSTUD Posted October 10, 2024 Posted October 10, 2024 My final say regarding Brendan Sheridan. As my wife immediately said when I informed her what had gone on. She said you inform the individual in person on a face to face basis. Please don’t come on and spout any bull ###### about the season ending and coach being away blah de blah de blah. This situation would have been known about internally beforehand and nobody possessed the gonads to look Brendan in the eye. Shameful. 1

sheddingswasus Posted October 14, 2024 Posted October 14, 2024 About time to announce the other new signings!
Bert Street Posted October 14, 2024 Posted October 14, 2024 (edited) Wonder if there are any decent pickings from Swinton? Edited October 14, 2024 by Bert Street Grammar
wozzeryedhead Posted October 14, 2024 Posted October 14, 2024 Has anyone heard anything about mckenzie yei if he's had his op and if it was successful
bosman69 Posted October 14, 2024 Posted October 14, 2024 (edited) Not been actively posting on this forum for a number of years but here goes.. the current state of play Please free to correct any mistakes. 3/4s JT (2025) Mo (2025) Ben okeefe (2025) Sambou (2025) Jack johnson (2025) Dixon (2025) Mackenzie turner (2025) C tyrer (2025) Nathan roebuck (ooc and no confirmation yet) Ian thornley (strongly rumoured but not yet confirmed) Halves DC (2025) Dean (25 & 26) Paga (2025) Logan astley (2025) K Tyrer (ooc and no confirmation) Props Koppy (2025) Farnworth (2025) J Chap (2025) T Chap (2025) M Yei (2025) Dudson (25 & 26) Nines Wildie (2025) Aldridge (2025) Milner (25 & 26) Back row Moran (2025) Wardle (2025) Lawton (2025) Gallagher (2025) Taylor (2025) George hirst (expected on loan) Ashurst (strongly rumoured but not yet announced) The extensive recruitment in the last off season means there are far fewer gaps to fill this time. The obvious issue is that i have not named a full back but there are number of candidates within the squad who could be used there..astley.. tyrer.. and of course okeefe who is excellent there. Forwards look we'll stocked.. especially the back row. Edited October 14, 2024 by bosman69 1 1
sheddingswasus Posted October 14, 2024 Posted October 14, 2024 PLT would hopefully fill fullback. Jack Johnson also plays there. Dixon has played a lot of his career there too, so we are well covered I would think
bosman69 Posted October 14, 2024 Posted October 14, 2024 (edited) It would certainly be great if PLT returned. With evalds, broadbent and hiku there KR are well stocked at FB so despite his ability he may struggle for game time. FB is such a crucial position these days.. Edited October 14, 2024 by bosman69

A couple of small adjustments I think to this list: Dixon was signed on a 18 month contract, so I take that to be coming to an end in 2025 K Tyrer signed a 2 year contract so he is on the books until 2025
bosman69 Posted October 14, 2024 Posted October 14, 2024 I stand corrected on Dixon but I am pretty confident on K Tyrer..
Happyed Posted October 14, 2024 Posted October 14, 2024 Question will be whether Yei and Wardle are fit to go round again
m brooksy Posted October 14, 2024 Posted October 14, 2024 Think Wardle will get a squad number but he was cooked at the back end of the season. Ashurst and Lawton would be first choice in the back row. Think we need Gallagher to kick on a bit more than last season but he did have a very disrupted season missing all of pre season then the first couple of months of games. If we have Hirst available as well for the majority of the season then second row looks very strong. Think we definitely need a full back if PLT doesn't sign as Astley didn't kick on like we thought he could. The cover and quality in the outside backs is excellent. 4 quality wingers in Mo, Dixon, Tyrer and Sambou and then JT, Thornley, O'Keefe and Sambou again in the centres. Think the big question for me is Dean at scrum half. In the Keighley home game he linked superbly with Craven but then the week after had a poor performance against Rochdale although he did set up the match winner. 3

Fear not, Dean is a quality player & will come good. 3

Just confirmed by the club - makes perfect sense for Hull KR to see how he get's on in the Championship. Delighted with that. 1
