Probably and Dave Naylors. He so hated the shield.

Before it appeared and when there was an attempt at a new logo, I was asked my opinion.

I said something like:

Quote

If you stick the town crest on a shield and type Oldham RLFC underneath, I'll be the first person to champion getting rid of it.

and look what we got.

I don't want to be too picky but we've now got the town crest above a ribbon that wraps round nothing with this daft ORLFC 1876 on it.  I still hate it.

I suspect that the boundary line video will include the wakefield 2.. but pure guesswork.. really pleased we have recruited younger forwards as well.

Has Kieran Dixon been offered a contract for 2025 ? If not there's nobody in team that can kick goals is there ? Lack of a goal kicker has cost Oldham in recent years, apart from his excellent goal kicking he impresses me with his play on the wing as well. .

He’s already under contract for 2025 👍

I must admit that I don't see our goal kicking stocks as an issue.  We all know how good Dixon is but we also have Dean as a very strong alternatives as well as the likes of C Tyrer and Craven as back up.

I see that Dec Patton has been released by Fev today (one of 7 in total). it is clear that he already has an unnamed club as his next destination as this was referenced in their press release.. Oldham?

Looks like he is joining us. The competition at 6 and 7 will be intense next season.

Big question has to be "How does does Sean keep what is now a big squad happy, with more to come?" What are the chances of an "A" team?

Can't wait for the season to begin - bring it on!

This is the article by Matthew Shaw who provides news feeds for most newspapers

'on the cards', 'on the verge' - reads as the deal's not done. Shaw is usually far more definite in his wording when he's sure. Hope it happens but just can't see it.

Good that Oldham have signed Josh. Good, steady set of hands, nothing fancy and very reliable. He'll do well for Oldham, popular player amongst Wire fans.

So what do we think this squad is missing if we’re going to compete in the playoffs?

An experienced halfback (Drinkwater would be ideal) and a big fast centre (Thornley). If Ashurst is also added we’ve got a very strong pack, great cover at hooker / loose as well. The squad is looking good as much of the recruitment heavy lifting was done last year.

I agree if rumours are true we’ve gone about our business very shrewdly.

Bradford are looking favourites for me at the mo
