Without having Sky/TNT/Amazon, it's hard to watch and follow any sport really. Match of the Day (and Women's games), cricket highlights (and the Horrible Hundred), Wimbledon and bits of the other slams for tennis are slim pickings.

No wonder people use dodgy streaming on firesticks.

I've gone with cricket but Derbyshire are properly testing my patience with it after this season's horrible performances.

The netflix series Quarterback and Receiver were very good and made me a bit more interested in American Football again but then I watched a match on TV and remembered how dull it was as a TV sport.

I care not for your children, I care not for your wives, I care not for your country, I care not for your lives." - (c) Jim Boyes - "The Avenging Angel"

Do you have Prime?

There's a new five part series on there called Game 7. Which has, as you might expect, talking heads reliving title deciders that went to a Game 7.

I've only watched one: the one on the Cubs-Indians Game 7 from 2016, aka the greatest game of baseball ever played.

I mention this only because I honestly think the Americans are so good at packaging this stuff. I know that game like the back of my hand and I was still gasping at parts of it.

EDIT: Just noticed you included Amazon above.

Snooker. I watch every single second of it that is available to me on free to air tele. I have adored snooker since I was about 7 or 8 years old. I am watching it right now as I am typing this, I have been watching it for about 4 1/2 hours. Mrs Goose hasn't realised that I schedule holidays from work around when snooker tournaments are on! 😉

Also accept my apologies if today's Tour de France TV news has made you realise that cycling is your second favourite sport.

Track Cycling maybe, as I have frequently revived my Discovery+ subscription to watch a championship event.

I also enjoy MotoGP, Test Cricket, Athletics and Gymnastics, but have not paid to watch them when they are on a subscription channel (the latter being an exception during the Olympics, but that's a sub for the whole Games).

Did you?

I couldn't find one - the only one I could remember was from ages back.

I think the current thread including a poll is useful - it gives a clear view of what a lot of people like without going through the posts and trying to keep track.

I'm one of the minority on here that doesn't have rugby league as my favourite sport. The first two I'm very clear about as it hasn't changed in 40 or so years. It becomes a lot more difficult to decide after that.

1 Association football

2 Cricket

3-5 Snooker/Rugby union/Rugby league in some or other order

6 NFL

After much deliberation, I put handball. It might have been baseball, cricket or football on a different day.

I'm also enjoying basketball a lot more than I ever used to - to the extent that I might stick on one of the British League DAZN streams later.

I've put 'other' but it could be cricket depending on the game/teams. The 'other' would either be road cycling, though again that would be dependent on the race/riders or climbing, mainly bouldering or lead, not interested in speed.

Rugby league is probably the only one I specifically plan on watching and will organise my evening/weekend/day around. Or possibly a particularly exciting cycle race or a day 5 off a close test.

i put in a vote for other, its a close call between horse racing and speedway, i used to love the speedway when it was on at the hole in the ground at bradford, nice to see the stock cars come back, pity the bikes havnt. the only other joint RL/speedway venue was worky and they pulled the bike track up there a couple of years ago sadly. the fairly new national speedway stadium in manchester is a super venue if u get chance of a visit. (it seems to have an american football field in the middle sadly.)

It was very much a list of sports I've watched in the past week or so!

Turns out, I also missed out horse racing.

Completely randomly, I was taking photos at Hastings United the other week and a guy wound up talking to me. Turns out he was from Halifax and doing a spot of groundhopping whilst on holiday. We got to talking about grounds and the talk turned to Odsal which he had only been to for speedway. We had both been, decades earlier, at a couple of the same meetings there (literally the only two I went to Odsal for).
