Truck plowed into a crowd.  Over 20 dead.

 

 

With the best, thats a good bit of PR, though I would say the Bedford team, theres, like, you know, 13 blokes who can get together at the weekend to have a game together, which doesnt point to expansion of the game. Point, yeah go on!

Either an awful accident or deliberate attack.  Looks like police opened fire to stop the truck.

Lots of families enjoying the fireworks. Truck drove for over a mile along the prom.

I'd also say stay off some news sites, as they are not all as careful with images and footage.

Just reading about it now, absolutely horrendous and seems to be on a new level. Just unbelievable.

Frightening at just how basic tgese attacks can be with devastating results.

Truly horrific.

Said the same to the wife earlier; this attack whilst absolutely devastating in results, is incredibly simplistic in execution. Unless the individual is known/being tracked or you get very lucky and intercept a message giving the green light from their chain of command, there is nothing else for the security services as a marker for an impending attack: no purchase of bomb components, no chemicals etc... simple but devastating... my heart goes out to all the families of the dead and injured.

Shocking and such sad news. I have so many French friends and colleagues and this latest attack on their country will hit them hard once again.

 

I just cannot get my head around how anyone thinks this will further their cause in any way. This horrendous attack is just beyond belief.

 

My thoughts and sympathy with all those affected by this horrible event

Reports that the attack was carried out by a man of Tunisian origin but with French citizenship, who was well known to the police as a career criminal but had no previous links to terrorism.

I might be in the minority these days but I haven't watched any of the footage from the scene and won't be either. I can sort of understand why someone at the scene might film it but imo some things weren't meant to be seen. I think some of the coverage has been quite insensitive too.

I agree, by showing these images I think we are providing the excuses for human beings that perpetrate these hideous acts with the exposure they want.

By all means report it but to show it in detail every 20 minutes as happened on breakfast tv today is needless and helping spread the terror and alarm that was part of the reasoning behind the act.
