I have a feeling that, if it comes from the Hull team, it'll be Danny Houghton.

While I have stated on a number of threads that I think there are a couple of other candidates I would select for England ahead of him I wouldn't hesitate to nominate Danny Houghton as the Man of Steel.

He has been consistently outstanding all year in a team that has exceeded expectations.

"If someone doesn't value evidence, what evidence are you going to provide to prove that they should value it? If someone doesn't value logic, what logical argument could you provide to show the importance of logic?" — Sam Harris

I can't see Houghton being nominated tbh. As good as he is defensively it is usually the more flashy attacking players, or forwards that make the hard yards that get nominated. I can see Ellis being nominated along with Gidley and Sandow.

Wasn't meant to insult your intelligence mate. Great player and I love him but has he had that much impact?

Gidley and the really good looking Atkins have played well for Wire.

I think he has had a huge impact. I think it showed when he was injured how much of an impact he has had.

Has to be Ellis. The difference he makes when he's on the pitch is amazing. He really is the best player in our team in the player we miss the most when he's off the pitch.

On the flip side, Houghton is rarely off the pitch to make a fair comparison! But Ellis is rarely on it when things are going wrong!

Love to know what folk see in Lilley. If he wasn't being bigged up by Schoey every week he wouldn't get a mention. Never stands out. Only gets thrown out there because of who he plays for.

A shining light in an underperforming Leeds team. Not a future international but a good, young up and coming scrum half.

Thank you for your valuable contribution.

Sandow won the player of the month for the first two months then had a month or so injured.

He's been absolutely brilliant.

Clark is the other Wire worthy of a mention.

No impact. Useless.

Waited a whole 45 seconds to get a 40/20 today.

I can confirm 30+ less sales for Scotland vs Italy at Workington, after this afternoons test purchase for the Tonga match, £7.50 is extremely reasonable, however a £2.50 'delivery' fee for a walk in purchase is beyond taking the mickey, good luck with that, it's cheaper on the telly.

I appreciate the votes for Ellis and Minichiello but when was the last time either played the full 80.

Danny Houghton does this week in/week out, is Hull's almost 100% acting half, and regularly completes 40/50 tackles every game.

Add to that his try scoring feats this year and he's way out on his own for me.

James Roby won in a season when he was back up to Cunningham and never played the full 80.

I'm not suggesting it's a prerequisite for winning MOS but it's yet another string to Houghton's bow.

I'll throw in a biased Cas fan's opinion and suggest Gale, top for try assists in super league and he's discovered his tactical kicking game this season.

Other names in the frame for me should be Sandow, Houghton, Minichiello, Currie, Scott Taylor.

If it comes down to a dance off my money's on Houghton after last night's victory celebration in front of us.

Quite often the winner comes off some media attention and campaigning and Houghton is rightly starting to get plaudits. He is in with a chance.

Ellis is always in with a chance, maybe enhanced as an old timer.

Sandow and maybe Gidley have had positive attention at Wire.

In reality though, the next 10 weeks see the biggest games of the year, so i genuinely think it will be who excels in this period...
