Blue Pike
With Sheffield Eagles most people know that its up in the air whether they can survive the current ordeal that they face which depends on the council and the buisinessman sorting things out between them which includes the power station etc.But I want to share with you info that has been passed to me through current players about further dilemmas facing other clubs which I have not heard about in the press. First of all the Sheffield players have been given an offer which they cant refuse ;sign away their three months wages that they are owed and the R F L will help save the club from folding. Also been told that most if not all the Bradford Bulls players have not been paid and there is a good chance of them folding and finally ive been told but not the reasons why but Huddersfield are really struggling and are in dire straits. As a Rugby fan I hope everyrhing turns out o.k for them (except if it was Cas)and we see them all next season. Likely to be Bradford but Fax are not in a great position either with their main sponsor pulling out of their shirt deal for next year and having to take a massive cut in money to get another main sponsor. We might just about find enough money to run the reserves but we have cut a lot of players and it would not surprise me if we did some sort of dual reg deal with Hull to try and make up the deficit in quality. moorside roughyed
This is a topic that really worries me as love the game.It may be a sign of the times,I hope not and I hope it picks up again. Hate to think of players not being paid. I wouldn't want any club to fold,we need them all.The game is small enough already. Less clubs would mean a weaker game. It's a very worrying state of affairs. I'm an Oldham fan and hard as it may seem I'd hate it if Hornets went bump, just think, rugby league without our rivalries, quite shocking really. The Blues Ox
On another note regarding Bradford, how are the RFL able to justify signing off on their new signings when they are not able to play current players wages?
ROVERS FOREVER
On another note regarding Bradford, how are the RFL able to justify signing off on their new signings when they are not able to play current players wages? Because of corruption most likely. Rugby league will be as bad as fifa for it.
phildog
So Koukash was right then, RFL not fit for purpose. He's got a bit of a gob on him but it's not always rubbish that comes out. The RFL are concerned solely with the elite 12, surprised they ever allowed the re-organisation last season, but of course even allowing for Leigh replacing HKR it's still heavily stacked in SL's favour. Blind side johnny
That's right - clubs being run badly, struggling to pay contracts, losing sponsors etc. is all the fault of the RFL and nothing to do with the clubs themselves. Sport, amongst other things, is a dream-world offering escape from harsh reality and the disturbing prospect of change.

I'm pretty sure that the RFL would see Bradford, and possibly London if they can rebuild, as part of the elite 12, and definitely not Wakefield, who refuse to play ball and lie down, but continue to defy the odds year after year. I can see them having to revert back to 14 clubs when Toronto and Toulouse come up to speed.

Don't hold your breath on those two Steve - Toulouse will be with us in the Championship for a while yet and we get the chance to reorganise the structure at least once before Toronto might make it. Returning to the OP, word is that Halifax have asked their existing playing and coaching staff to take a 10% cut; this could be implied to be a breach of contract, leaving their players as free agents (if they could find other clubs). Speaks99
Seems like the right place to post this?? I've heard a rumour that Mark Campbell is putting together an offer to buy York Knights from their current owner. Has anyone else heard this? My source is 100% reliable and I dont doubt the info. The clubs been up for sale for a while and I expect that some £££'s will need to be spent to get the squad together and rebuild some goodwill with the RFL. Blind side johnny
How did Sheffield make the cut? No team, no ground. They still hold the licence though, but must still meet whatever criteria may have been laid down before they can continue, I presume. Blue Pike
Been on Sky news that Bradford Bulls owe rhe tax man 330 thousand pounds but Bradford are saying they owe 135 thousnd and are sorting it out in court .Incidentally Fev are apparently on a list of eight clubs that havent paid their tax bill. But im not worried it seems to be the norm for us and to pay it off just in time. craigfev
Nothing to be worried about re us. Bradford just cannot seem to be able to sort themselves out. I am not sure whether to be sympathetic or thinking they should be sorted now. I just hope they are not backed too much by the governing bodies. We and others might have the book thrown at us if we were in the same situation on the number of occasions they have. That said, All the best Bradford Bulls. Hope you get sorted out soon.
