  3. Been in the making for awhile bulls fans have been calling for it that loss yesterday was what Bradford wanted to get rid. you took us down are left edge which I expected with a young kid at centre and a young Leeds lad that no idea why we keep calling back. great second half by barrow and was deserved the bulls fans was singing for 50 so you failed us on that one. when sammut is on it he’s on it good luck for rest of season and hopefully see you all at Odsal where it’s actually a Bradford team not some daft loans that we don’t need rather lose with kids than loans.

  4. Far too soon to sack him, doing a great job

  5. A lot of this team were playing NCL 3 or Cumberland league last year as long as they do their best and develop that's good enough. They're going to get poor results now and again. Remember only last year players costing a lot more were trying a lot less. I'd much rather watch this team, that's for sure.

  6. But they should be in Super League cos they were good 20 years ago.

  7. Thanks Andy, always enjoy your take on the games, couldn't listen yesterday I'm in Leeds hospital with a couple of Bulls fans, didn't get a murmur from them after 5 pm lol

  8. Well I thought he was doing a great job and should have been given a contract extension.

  9. Bradford as a club deserve all they get and I for one take great pleasure seeing them in't mire for reasons I've stated on here in the deleted thread. They are an absolute basket case of a club although I do feel genuinely sorry for their real supporters.

  11. Yes. So. so sad. John lived and breathed rugby league, and York rugby league at that, and was such a lovely gent. Hope someone will post details of the funeral.

  12. I enjoyed it too - thought I'd get bored after the first 30 points of the Valkyrie game, but that pack is so well drilled and relentless, it was a pleasure to watch them at work. As for the Knights, we did look lightweight and flimsy at times against a physically much bigger side, but eventually got the job done. The return of Fitzimmons, Antrobus, Jessie Dee and Kirmo will stiffen us up no end. The total lack of game management from both sides (thought London's was worse than ours!) probably added to the entertainment . Why AJ Towse wasn't given POM is a complete mystery to me - three great tries, great in defence and looking so confident under the high ball.....

  13. Wow, that’s a real drop from the Hey Day for each of those clubs. There was a real feeling of growth in the region 2006 - 2012. Skolars jumped up. Hemel continued to grow and Saint Albans were killing it at the great facilities at Woollom. Even Luton Vipers were putting out a good squad and had a women’s team. Essex Eels were having a dig at a reasonable facility. Sth London Storm meanwhile we’re getting hundreds of kids from minis up at the Storm, Bulls, Hurricanes and one other weather themed club, whilst the seniors were going great. It is great to see that east division still active despite missing old club names like Bury St Edmunds, Ipswich Rhinos, Cambridge Eagles, St Ives Roosters and other short lived entities like Norwich City Saxons and Colchester. Fingers crossed for you Eddie. The more people you get active in any role at the club now, the better the chances of your sustainability. Kit man, runner, pitch volunteer, water boys, social coordinator, player manager, club manager, coaching manager, volunteer manager. Wishing you all the best mate.

  18. Can't help but feel sorry for the guy. Puts in a decade of service to the organisation, makes the step up this season because let's be honest the club is running on the cheap, and then loses his job after a few months. Should've stayed where he was eh. Seems like he was out of his depth, but sure it wasn't helped by their ridiculous recruitment strategy. Nigel Wood can't organise a p*ss up in a brewery - I mean, I for one am shocked.... who knew?

  19. I do agree. The only way France and any other country can improve is by increasing the player base. Not sure how the French Federation is going to be able achieve that as they don’t seem to have the money for it. Toulouse and Catalans can play a big part by increasing numbers in their areas but other areas also need to be targeted

  20. And there we see the reason why no Bulls engage with threads like this. Petty childishness based on what someone said in 1997.

  21. That's it then Andy! I won't bother as you've summed it up perfectly. My thoughts entirely. As for John Stabler, you've said that too. He was an absolute toff. A gentleman. When you consider how popular he was and his Methley cricketing associates in addition to his rugby side and his work, I think the venue for his funeral will have to be very, very large. York Minster might do.

  22. Nowt to do with us, we haven't got fans remember? As I said in a previous post, what goes around, comes around for many fans of other West Yorkshire clubs where Bradford Bulls are concerned.

  23. It's all an interesting read as ever. I feared the worst when I saw Bailey, The Ghost and Cunningham were missing but credit the lads for a decent shift (and the win) against what I reckon is an under-rated Broncos side. Lets be honest, we won't face a better centre all season and I include Leilua and all the other high profile names. As a spectacle, it was a fabulous watch and I can see why the new fans who came yesterday say they will be back. We seem to be on a bit of a forward bashing crusade at the mo but Taia had his best game in a Knights shirt, Jubby was non-stop as ever, Oli Field continues to mature and fit in, Clarky was good while he was on with a try and a great assist and if anyone one tells me Tommo is anything less than superb then I'll tell you you know nowt about RL! As for the others, Marshy was back to his best, tormenting London down that left side attack, AJ was fantastic all day, young Oli Pratt was playing against what Fordy would have called 'a ball of lions' and did well, Gloves was just Gloves - tackled everything that was within tackling range, and then some. Browney, bless him, didn't see much ball. That leaves the half backs - Hingano oozes class with the occasional forced pass that won't go but his kicking game was really good and then the bloke who flew under the radar, Josh Daley who quietly went about his game, buzzing around, prompting and committing tacklers. I thought it was a good, gritty, tenacious win that will look better as the season progresses cos London are gonna knock a few sides off, for sure.

  24. There is and has always been a fantastic appetite for the game in Leigh. But it is a pretty small place and there are established SL teams in every direction. This has always been the issue and it is hard to see how they sustainably get to the 8k minimum average you need to thrive in this division. None of that is to criticise or mock any of the efforts that are being made because Leigh are making the absolute best of their promotion on and off the field.

  25. You misunderstand me. We should support the development of the French international side because it is in *our* interests to do so, to create a regular, meaningful international competition with a near neighbour, which will be good for the development of the English game. So your “not my problem” mindset isn’t that relevant here. By the way, they’ve played rugby union in Italy for longer than that. It’s just that 20+ years ago the IRU decided to take its development seriously. For the benefit of European and World rugby, not for the benefit of the Italians themselves.

  28. Good win for Hurricanes despite the best efforts of a Skolars side that can't be far off being competitive again. The visitors looked decent going forward but didn't defend well enough to be a real threat today. Hurricanes probably need to be a little better defending themselves when they play Crusaders in two weeks' time. Having been absent through injury for 8 months, Hayden Freeman scored a hat trick and completed 106 appearances for the club (Bears + Canes). Just one more game now to go past Chris Barratt.

  30. Payne Haas has made a remarkable start to 2023. In an era when the Dally M is dominated by spine players, he tops the leaderboard after 10 rounds (and missed one game through suspension). I was looking at his stats. Yes, he tops the metre makers for forwards at 1,537 for the year (average 171 a game - next best forward is Joseph Tapine at 145). But the stat that jumped out at me is that in those 9 games, Haas hasn't missed a single tackle. That is outstanding, he is a machine.

  31. Do they? Most of the penalties yesterday were for offside, which I'd hardly describe as "robust play". 3-1 sin binnings probably reflects the style of play better.

  32. From the RFL's on field disciplinary pages In relation to each round of Championship, League 1, or Challenge Cup matches solely involving Championship or League 1 teams, or Academy matches, the Panel meet on the Thursday following the Round in question and consider any incidents that have been reported by Match Officials or otherwise brought to the attention of the Panel. 36. Been great watching Gigot this year in his later days. His effort at Limoux eartier when his Albi side were done for was marvelous. Thinking of his best days. Playing at Nou Camp and Anfield. The only Frenchmen to ever win the Lance Todd Trophy at Wembley. He'll be down the road from me Saturday at Stade Albert Domec for the championship semi-final against Carcassonne. Looking forward to it.

  38. Really disappointed with the Cornwall tactics and the officiating allowing it to continue, Cornwall should have been down numerous players through out the game. This caused us to become frustrated, I thought we were good for 60 minutes special mentions to Ah Van who has been a great signing and Wilkinson who was a threat all game and also great to see McNally back. looking forward to getting into the week to week of competitive rugby with a huge test up in Cumbria next week

  40. Agree totally about AJ, as good as Jubby is week in week out AJ was outstanding and for a young lad he is strong and gutsy, I think he will go on t be a standout player in Super League if he keeps progressing and maturing as he has since coming to the Knights. As for the returnees (when they get back) yes we will be a different proposition, Realistically I can see us making the playoffs if and it is a big if we can keep a relatively settled side with two half backs for the remainder of the season.

  47. I don’t know why but we seem to have gone away from a club where the fans felt like they were part of the family, so to speak, when John Flatman owned the club, which was reinforced by the relationship we had with Fordy. It could be that because the whole dynamic changed practically all at once some of that got left behind, and hopefully will return, but the club need to do better in engaging with the people who come through the turnstiles, and keep us informed about the things that matter to us. At the moment it feels a bit corporate and remote. It may be because the people in charge want to come across as more professional to improve their standing with IMG with an eye on the Holy Grail of Super League, but it is the fans who are the lifeblood of any club and we need to feel part of it, it is still early days though and I am sure lessons are being learnt.
