Teams from two competitions are involved.  The teams in these competitions are from 4 countries

Anyway, that's beside the point, do you really think that the winners of the Super League playing the winners of the NRL cannot legitimately be called the World Club Challenge?  Which other competition winners would you add to this challenge?

But only two different countries will ever be involved in the world club championship, unless of course we expand it permanently and then it may increase to four, potentially.  However, four countries do not by any stretch of the imagination mean world.

The comp could do with another name but as it stands it's a knock out match between the winners of two grand finals.

I wouldn't add any other competition winners to the match.  It's fine as a one-off knock out game.  I'd instead focus my attention on the proper internationals rather than trying to make internationals out of a club match.

How many times, FOUR COUNTRIES ARE INVOLVED, that's 4 or FOUR.

How do you count, 1, 3, 5, 7, 9....

Okay , I will have another go. . I'm trying to draw your attention to the Ironic circumstance we have now that rugby league players are asked to accept less money than they could if they were more professional and played rugby union?

they get offered a contract take or leave. They can go elsewhere with no consequence. Where's the irony?

Perhaps I made my point badly. The WCC is Indeed the culmination of two tournaments. the winners of a Yorshshire /Lancashire competition play the winners of what is realistically the winner of NSW vs Brisbane( if Brisbane makes it).

The Inclusion of other teams is an add on. That echoes a bygone Era of rugby Union. What we have now is what the amature ethos once was where someone could earn more money by going to the dark side.

Now the Dark side is , rugby union and Rugby league players are criticised for taking money for playing a clearly Inferior version of our great game.

WTF?

Toad and Saintslass are the best duo we've had on here since Simac and League Freak.

I can confirm 30+ less sales for Scotland vs Italy at Workington, after this afternoons test purchase for the Tonga match, £7.50 is extremely reasonable, however a £2.50 'delivery' fee for a walk in purchase is beyond taking the mickey, good luck with that, it's cheaper on the telly.

Don't you think it's Ironic that Rugby League players are discouraged to play a different code , the hated Union variety , for money?

I do.

That doesn't actually though, does it? They're not discouraged to go to union because of being paid (more) money. They're discouraged because we want to keep them in league.

I think the fact that you think how professional you are is linked to how much you are paid is the reason why you're making this unusual ironic connection.

It's the fact you are paid that make you a professional. Not how much. So no, I don't see it ironic.

Despite being able to afford it, rugby union clubs wouldn't (officially) pay their players through some warped principle.

Rugby league clubs today won't pay players more because they simply cannot afford it.

I really don't see the irony? And clearly no one else does!

Only clubs from two countries are involved. That isn't representative of 'the world' in any sense. Even within the rugby league 'world' there are other countries which aren't represented.

The winners if the best two competitions in the world are involved. All other countries can apply to play in one of those two competitions if they like. NZ, PNG and Fiji are a part of the NRL minor leagues. There are Welsh clubs in the European system that could work there way up thetrio SL to qualify if they win the comp. Canada have (or are wanting to) applied to have a team in the British system.

Not representative of the world in any sense? Give over. A match involving the winners of the two biggest competitions in the world (to competitions that could be open to any club in their respective Hemispheres if they wished to apply for it and meet the criteria) is pretty representative of the world!

What do you want to call it? The Langtree Park add on?

I take your point about the two competitions but I simply think it could be better named as the real internationals are those between multiple nations at country level and IMO that's where our focus should be when it comes to international competition.  I have no idea what I would call the comp because I've never given it any thought but I'm sure someone more creative than me could come up with an alternative if it was important, which it really isn't.

Please can we all keep on topic

I haven't read all the thread and I will leave it to Craig or John to remove any posts. In my opinion posts such as the following are just unecessary 'You need to get a life'  'you seem to be such a sad sod ' 'Jihhasts' 'spreading her circle of chaos'  etc

thank you
