It would be better if Chris Evans was on it

My suggested improvement to the Pointless scoring system.

Instead of telling someone that they have the wrong answer straight away, why not let the board count down 99 - 98 - 97 -96 -95 -94 - 93- 92 - 91 -90 - 89 - 88 - 87 - 86 - 85 - 84 - 83 -...etc  right down to zero and THEN tell them they are wrong. Imagine thinking you are going  to win thousands as the countdown to Pointless heads towards zero...and past it to utter and abject failure!

Like a typical Warrington Super League campaign you mean?

John, you're a cruel, cruel man! I like your idea a lot!

Tonight was the cenotaph episode.  Best of the new series.

With the best, thats a good bit of PR, though I would say the Bedford team, theres, like, you know, 13 blokes who can get together at the weekend to have a game together, which doesnt point to expansion of the game. Point, yeah go on!

I agree, it was excellent. The dynamic of having two Stars in a Rallycross car worked really well, the reports on cars were well presented and the messing about was top class.

The BBC have scheduled it up against some strong opposition in the listings, like European 2016, last week's Soccer Aid and the forhtcoming Wimbledon fortnight.

It might be a well-judged piece of mitigation to ease in the new crew without making the overnight figures quite such valuable ammunition to the furiously bellowing Clarksonistas.

The show is getting better every episode.

One thing C.Evans will do is change the format around to make it work.

He's not showing too much sign of that yet - other than having multiple presenters including specialists doing some of the car reviews.

Basically it's the same show without the casual xenophobia. I'm enjoying it.

"I am the avenging angel; I come with wings unfurled, I come with claws extended from halfway round the world. I am the God Almighty, I am the howling wind. I care not for your family; I care not for your kin. I come in search of terror, though terror is my own; I come in search of vengeance for crimes and crimes unknown. I care not for your children, I care not for your wives, I care not for your country, I care not for your lives." - (c) Jim Boyes - "The Avenging Angel"

I feel like the problem with the show is that it is trying to appeal to fans of the old show, who are never going to be truly happy with the new show, especially with the digs in and around the show.

Therefore it has to build a new fanbase, whether this can ever be as big and successful as the old one I don't know.

Chris Evans resigns

He attracted a lot of flak away from the rest of the show's presentation. And they ran a short series, all but one episode of which was up against Euro 2016 matches (and the opening one was up against Soccer Aid on ITV). Maybe this was supposed to be a transitional 'buffer' period, while all the Jeremistas got worked up and blew off steam.

Meanwhile, the other presenters seem to have (mostly) won fans over.

I think this could be the first step in a slow death of the show unfortunately, suppose we'll have to wait till the next season airs but the figures for the finale (which was up against France V Iceland and Antiques Roadshow) were worse than any of the Clarkson, Hammond and May era.

Although the competition from Euro 2016 has been there, I am disinclined to think it is the sole reason for these figures. If Antiques roadshow can almost double the viewing figures whilst Top Gear is on then there is something not quite right is there.

Evans quitting under a cloud may just be a way out of the show.

I'm afraid it was a flop. Le Blanc, Jordan and Sabine were more wooden than a park bench. Evans tried too hard and came across a bit hysterical. Reid doesn't have the gravitas, he's too young. Harris is the only one that really made an impression on me, he seems to have the right mix of enthusiasm and humour but didn't get much air time. Can't see how they can resurrect it.

Depends what kind of structural damage was done to "the bridge" during the fire....

People have been saying Le Blanc is pretty good but I agree with you he is so  wooden infront of the studio audience. He seems more comfortable in the  trials and tasks when it's just him and the camera. Jordan is just unnecessary and delivers lines as if he is running his finger under the words. Sabine is a hot authoritarian blonde who owns a 19th century western style saloon on her ranch in Germany and is a skilled driver ............ :giveheart:

If the new, mistake laded decision makers really knew anything about the programme and its audience then Chris Harris is the man and was from the start and it really illustrates the lack of virtually everything from the producers that he could end up on i-player. I don't know if Reid is too young but he certainly acts a bit too "yoof" for me.

And Chris Evans! He was unpopular before he set foot on Top Gear. Another coup for those incharge. You can tell the original back room people also left with Clarkson.

Rory might be too 'yoof'... or maybe you're getting too old. ;)

Chris Evans seems to rate well when it comes to his radio show (and other ventures in TV and radio before that). Just because you and I don't like those shows much doesn't mean other people don't. He may have been wrong for TG, but has done the David Moyes thing and taken the hit for not being his predecessor before leaving the show. Whoever replaces him will probably have an easier ride from the Jeremistas.

I have been 29 for many years now and I intend to act like nothing is creaking right up to the point it falls off...... and then continue to ignore it with the aplomb of  a nonchalant pirate with a roguish tale as to how he lost an eye.

I'll tell you why Chris Evans is popular on radio..... people can't see him.  Not only that but a huge number of people will tune into his BBC radio show because commercial radio is depressingly filled with news and adverts every 5 minutes and the same 10 pop songs played around the clock. Chris Evans provides an uplifting experience for people who commute to jobs they don't like because they can rest assured they are, at least, not Chris Evans.

But the thing I hate him for the most is that not only is he a man of 50 who wears skinny jeans tucked into his floppy leather boots BUT you just know, JUST KNOW !!!!!! he wears those unsubtle spectacles because in his head he thinks he has the cool of Harry Palmer.
