Quite right too, whats good for the goose and all that...The governing bodies have made it a ridiculous situation, although i doubt of the 22 we have unavailable 90% would be available next week.

Why have the RFL made a ridiculous situation?

If you can't raise a team, you forfeit the game.

If it's due to Covid you re-arrange the game.

It's clear, fair and reasonable.

Who decides if a team can't be raised though? the point is it's open to misuse for any team that are happy to have a week off from a game they would have probably lost anyway, which is, as most suspect what Cas did in the lead up to a cup final.

Who's to say Leigh won't do it for 3 or 4 games and make their season seem not as bad?

Clubs can't just decide they are down on numbers due to covid.

There is a track and trace system within the game - for training sessions and matches.

Close contacts are recorded. Training groups are recorded.

Hudds will now be investigated by the Multiple Case Group.

Interesting that Super League games are being called off left, right and centre, yet the Championship and League 1 are relatively unaffected by comparison.

It's "surprising" isn't it...

Cas wasn't covid related, they had a long injury list apparently, who are now all recovered

Exactly!

They tried to cheat the system.

Failed.

Good.

The rumour is that Hudds may also fall to meet the covid threshold though...

I've said for a while that Cas are prioritising the Challenge Cup.

The only reason they have a strong squad now is that the Cup final is approaching and their top players will now benefit more from playing than not playing.

I think that Castleford will win the Challenge Cup and that years from now nobody will remember anything about who was and who was not available in the lead up games.

Fullfilling fixtures is a fundamental of any sport. It's strange times we are in for sure but the fact that Championship and League 1 with their mostly part time players seem to be less affected than SL says it all really. And to think these clubs hold all the power in our game. It's really sad

What do people propose as the solution?

Is it that unusual to have players return from injury a week later?

All of them in one go?

Yes, that's extremely unusual!

That's not the reality of what is happening though is it?

Cas had 14 players available for last week's game (according to their statement last week). So in reality they only need 3 to return. It doesn't matter who they name in their squad.

Yes, it is what happened.

Cas didn't claim to have 14 first teamers available. They claimed "a lengthy list" of first teamers missing.

Now they are all back.

Miraculous.

You mean the Championship & League 1 layers who in the main are part time and have jobs where they come into contact with more people thereby in theory increasing their chances of catching covid.

Read the link in your post above, Cas say this:

The Tigers have just fourteen First Team players available for selection for the fixture on Wednesday ...

To be honest reading through the reasons given for each player makes it sound even worse. A lot of slight strains and minor injuries that certainly gives the impression that under normal times a good majority of these players would have played.

In reality, clubs could pull players out left right and centre, as I suspect they always carry injuries at some level.

But this example isn't the craziest - Cas had only 14 players last Wednesday, and can now field 17 a week later.

Ultimately we have to work with with what we have, and of course these things are open to abuse but some posters lack imagination if they think going from 14 fit players to 17 fit players in a week is a miracle.

one other point - that update on the injuries on the website looked really amateur, it looked like they let a Primary school student write it.
