Frustrating

Recommended Posts

The play acting and constant arms in the air complaining is really waring thin and is embarrassing.

Every team does it now and I have no idea why it has crept in?

Bit of a whinge but seriously grinding my gears now and getting more disrespectful and like football, every season now.

Last whinge as well 🙂 do we constantly have to have back patting all the time? Can't remember the last time I saw someone get a mouthful off a team mate for a dumb play or mistake. Like a bunch of fragile prince's who need to patted on the back and told there still one of the boys. Just get on with it!!

Anyway happy Easter and glad I got that off my chest 🙂

Harry Newman is one guy who has all the potential in the world but also the propensity to mouth off and flail his arms about. He needs to reign that in.

I agree. Anyone who has played rugby will know its often a case of taking it to the limit and pushing the boundaries, albeit without being overtly dirty or violent and certainly not gratuitous. The dark arts of the scrum comes to mind.

Nevertheless I too find the gamesmanship you identify as something that makes me feel uneasy. Like the 1.5 m of feminine fun says:"Its just like football...."

Rugby and especially Rugby League has an honesty and integrity about it. Its robust. I personally feel what grinds your gears Stanley, undermines this at times.

Yep, agree about the play acting and complaining. Needs to be nipped in the bud, in my opinion, whether that’s retrospective action or giving penalties for blatant stuff.

However, I welcome the back patting and support from teammates when a mistake is made. Firstly, it’s a great precedent to set for junior kids (and coaches) watching the professional game and seeing them act so supportively and in the right way to teammates. Also, I expect the sports psychologists probably say it’s not helpful to the team to be screaming at teammates for errors during a game. It’s about forgetting it and moving on, not dwelling on the fact you’ve disappointed your captain on your debut etc.

Myler is a disgrace and needs sorting by the RFL, flings himself to the ground trying to get players sent off constantly, jumping around behind the play the ball etc.

In the NRL it goes hand in glove with allowing the bunker to rule on things during the game . Players stay down and hold various body parts and the officials ( on and off the pitch ) often get spooked and work back from there to find something .  Some pens are such a delayed reaction it’s ridiculous .

Easy to sort out. Simply requires a strong match official to either March them 10, bin them or send them off. Match official also requires the backing of the match officials department and the governing body.

Along with throwing the ball away and agree it needs the backing of match official department. Unfortunately the antics of SL players gets copied at junior levels.

However, I expect the coaches and club chairmen will be against it in case their team gets penalised.

It's not just crept in, it's been going on for years now and it's just been ignored.

As has talking, gobbing off to the ref.

It's like watching a gymnastics team warm up or a duck race with all the flapping arms around!

Newman and Welsby are particularly bad at it.

Welsby annoys opponents but I don't think he's as bad towards referees as Newman.

I'm afraid this is missing the point, picking out individuals is not the answer dealing with the issues is.

But it won't be!

I thought duck races, used plastic ducks!

So how can they flap their arms (wings) about?

LOL

What annoys me is when someone knocks on the defending team all celebrate and this involves all 13 players coming into the middle of the field to hug and backslap, fair enough the blokes around the incident but do we really need a winger running 60 yards to celebrate a knock on?, this then causes a huge waste of time as we wait for them all to take turns patting backs/heads etc then having a couple of minutes to calm down and go back to position, then another couple to form the scrum, it's ridiculous, it must take 2-3 minutes from a knock on occuring to play resuming, why can't the refs tell them to pack it in and get on with the game?

That's my main gripe, oh and players actually stopping with the ball to beg for 6 again or set restart.

If that happened with our opponents at our games I wouldn’t get home till half past eight
