It was a decent turn out today but nothing more than that.

For a team fresh off the back of securing a first Wembley appearance for a generation, I would have expected better.

I’d say the cup run will have hindered the following today, rather than boost it. 4 away league games on the bounce, with a cup semi final and a final to pay for, and Catalans away last month as well.

I think had we had a free weekend last weekend, and no prospect of Wembley, more would’ve gone today rather than watching on TV. But still, as you say, was a decent following, as there was at Salford and the semi final.

Are you based in Sevenoaks? That is a hop and skip from ours.

Morning Exiled,

We live in a little village called Chiddingstone then i travel to just over the border from France to a place in Spain (Catalonia) called Peralada every few weeks around 35 mins drive to the Dragons.

We are in Dormansland. Be happy to make your acquaintance.

I was thinking more the new Sam Tompkins or Rob Burrows.

Your judgement is as lacking as your spelling (of two legends of the game, no less).

Can Leigh players claim assists for some of the Wigan tries?

We stopped just short of scoring a rugby league equivalent of an own goal.

Couldn’t go today but it was a good turn out looking at the game when I got back.

We was always going to get dicked. My little flutter of a 20-30 points loss proved fruitful in the end on a rather tired, flat, Leigh side !

When on fire, Wigan will take some stopping.

2 out of Wigan, Saints and Catalans for the grand final I reckon

Look at it again. He recklessly took off from distance, a la human cannonball. It was exactly the same technique that seriously injured Saints’ players. If you hurl yourself through the air you can’t control the impact. Anyway, we are finished playing you for this year, so we are no longer at risk.

How would you make a rule to stop player's diving in to make a tackle?

My point is nothing to do with the rules. I have at no point suggested that it is against any rules, or called for him to be banned. My point is the narrow one that this player’s technique has injured a lot of players, and may well do so again. Hence my relief that we emerged unscathed.

Of course, from that ‘lot of players’, one came back on and also played Friday. Another went off with a quad injury at half time (10-15 mins after Asiata was subbed), and another was also sent back on to finish the game. The most serious injury was deemed to be caused by the combination of two tackles in opposite directions.

Also, he must’ve injured two players with one tackle, as only three tackles were cited!

OK I will put it another way, how do you stop this player using his style of tackling, but before you do please consider that John Asiata has played here for over one and a half seasons, made over 1000 tackles, played 6 years at the top of the NRL including being a GF winner and it is only since the game last weekend that his mode of tackling has been under question.

With him appearing to go into the tackle leading with his shoulder without his arms trying to wrap his opponent. Maybe it could be regarded as a shoulder tackle and make it illegal that way?

I thought that had already been taken into consideration in the revue panels deliberations.

Wigan have been spanking us for decades (when we actually get a chance to play them) Why on earth did I attend the game?  Well, we had a good 'sing song' if nothing else.... 😎

The defensive line will have to stay perfectly still as attackers approach them. And given that in the eyes of some, using your shoulder to make initial contact is also an issue, they will have to use an good old fashioned swinging arm to make a tackle. The bicep will have to be swung towards the attackers torso.

Of course, this might not be the case, given that the standard bearer of player welfare was full of praise for James Bell when asked about him being like an "exocet missile with his very low tackling technique"

I'm sure the Leigh fans will be fuming over more inconsistent referee decisions....

You've been waiting a long time to get a dig in at Leigh, I can only apologise that they have kept your hatred for the club and your childish comments at bay, you have been very noticable by your absence but it was expected with them doing so well.

Wellens

I didn't hear or see that quote - link please - I used to have a lot of time for the guy, but I think he has now shown his true impulsive character by engaging his gob before putting his brain into gear.

He was asked following his 'hissy fit' had he heard from those he branded as incompetent at the RFL - that word was not used but came over loud and clear - yes he replied there has been some dialogue, I would wager he was given a right roasting but he should have had a Bringing the Game into Disrepute charge.

Anyway let's see what happens after his fire stoking at the Passive Smoking Arena in Sept.

The quote about Bell was earlier in the season: https://www.sthelensstar.co.uk/sport/23626828.paul-wellens-reaction-saints-win-castleford/ (last question in the interview)

Some of his comments are just ridiculous. He says Asiata is out of control after earlier praising Bell, with the same technique. Questions why the RFL didn't use the medical reports like they did when banning Knowles, when he knows full well why, on top of his previous "injuries happen" statements when Mike Cooper got injured.

More faces than a town hall clock.

Brierley to Leigh Again ?🤣

I though Salford had just received half a Million injection from the fans ? They are a good team. Need to stick with it and there isn't any sense for Leigh to but or Salford to sell for that matter considering they have just cashed in big time with Dupree.
