Wigan just seem to be taking control here.

Ooof, not sure if he kicked it before the ball hit the deck?

That's a shockingly bad try ha ha, so slow and clunky, awful attempt at a kick/knee thingy, poor tackling......4 points.

Not sure that should count as I didn’t think you could drop kick unless you where genuinely going for a drop goal.

If so then that begs the question from me couldn’t it be construed to be a drop kick? Does a drop kick in general play have to be an attempt at goal?

A drop kick does not have to be an attempt at goal

Not true. Drop kicks can go anywhere.

Think Mr. Kendall and the video ref got all the decisions correct there. Good game so far, still anybody's game as Leigh were on top for long periods in the first half.

I’m on about the pass from Jai Field the tackle earlier in the opposite side of the field, even the commentators said it was forward/knock on.

Holmes didn’t knock either

Miski kick was a clear dropped ball

Been unlucky leigh it’s hard enough to beat Wigan without poor calls like those

So in theory a knock on could be negated by a kick?

Yes but most players don’t have the reactions etc. but you have to kick it either before it hits the ground or as per a drop kick/ goal

This topic appears about once a season on this forum. It’s one of those slightly unusual things that appear on match officials exams.

I'll take your word for it but, looking at what the VR said during the checking of King's try, he mentioned making sure the boot hit the ball before the ground, so in other words I presume he'd have given a knock on.

Which begs the question, how do you know if a player has gone for a drop kick rather than mistimed the kicking of the ball?

Mr Kendall is the video ref, Jack Smith of Wigan is refereeing the game.

(Apologies, couldn't resist)
