Jamie Jones-Buchanan explains quite articulacy that it was reckless, and the mandate is that contact with the kicker is being clamped down on and that there is even a stray elbow.

But says "I don't even think it was a penalty".

Not at all contradictory.

Just a bit lol.

10 all, but Leigh have a few more fresh bodies on their benches. The game's still anybody's and that's great!

Nothing much in that shot on Minichiello from Ipape. He wrapped and it was marginally late.

Play on, for me.

I was wondering about that. Maybe it was later than I thought, but at first look I couldn't see what he'd done wrong. The guy is running at him and then passes it away fairly late and continues running into him. He's shaping to make the tackle and does so as the guy runs into him - a decent wrap, not leading with the elbow or anything. What else is he supposed to do? If he doesn't get himself into a position expecting the contact, he risks getting hurt himself when the player runs into him.

Wonder whether Leigh keeping the same middles on for a whole 40 minutes will help or hinder them at the back end of the game...

KR will be looking to capitalise on this spell while the starting Leigh forwards are off.

It is always a tough one for ref's to call.  Coaches want their ball handlers to carry the ball into the teeth of the defence and commit tacklers before a shift.  So when that contact comes it is a harsh call on the defender.  The ref has make a judgement call on whether he had time to pull out of the tackle.  I think he probably got that one about right but I wouldn't have argued if it was play on.

That's how I saw it. Marginally late, committed tackles are going to happen at the speed of the game. I didn't see anything worthy of a penalty.

KR's scramble defence has been really good to keep them in it.

I wouldn't mind Leigh running from dummy-half a bit more. They do like shifting the ball with their pivots and those shifts have been covered by last-ditch efforts.

Anyone got the current stats for KR's handling errors, or has the computer exploded?
