What do you think they can achieve in the the available timeframe?

Its reported that their planning app won't go in until January at the earliest. Assuming they get it passed (the Environment Agency have an objection on file), then funding is tied down, then contracts are tendered, then a construction company engaged, then spades in the ground, then a 40 week build (if you're the luckiest construction firm in the world)...in what world is it not "too late" for Cas to significantly change their grade score?

Add in the fact that the developer has already stated that the costs of changes demanded by the EA can't be achieved in the build budget.

I just mean that there are other areas where they could improve their score and this is part of a longer term plan as they assume they will be a SL team for the foreseeable.

Cas have had a choice about making improvements to the ground or doing nothing to Wheldon Road and waiting (hoping) for a totally new ground to be built. They've done the latter.

Now they'll be kicked up the backside to actually do something, which is what everyone has been wanting.

The something should be the long term solution, not a short term fix to get through an arbitrarily timed assessment.

I'm not in the "everyone" you refer to.

Oh I'm sure they can make improvements elsewhere, but they won't be big "points earners".

The big issue is the ground and it's not in their control, nor is it deliverable in the required timeframe.

Cas will not be in SL in 2025. (unless they increase the size of the division).

There's not going to be a long term solution, they've been waiting well over 25 years for that. How long does it have to be before folk realise it ain't happening and they start to modernise where they can.

It's still really boring seeing people attack Cas for the state of their ground when those people's own clubs have lucked into a new stadium, had one built for them by a rich benefactor or seen one facilitated by the local council. Cas unfortunately have been repeatedly let down - and the lack of certainty as to what will happen with their plans has been the biggest problem.

(BTW people would be amazed at how much they have spent just keeping the Jungle going, they certainly can't be classed as having "spent nothing" on the ground when the high levels of maintenance are factored in).

It'll likely take longer than that. Axiom aren't going to release money until their industrial Park has enough tenants signed up to make it profitable - unlike with Yorkcourt who already had a customer lined up they haven't a clue who theirs are or what they are even going to build at Glasshoughton (that part of the plan also as an EA objection hanging over it, as well as a Highways objection). And on the bodge plan I believe that WMDC have reminded Cas that they cannot use any of the £2m grant towards it.

Cas have had a "Sugar-family" for decades and could have acted much earlier.

Instead, they relied on Wakey being fair to middling on the pitch (on a good year), and scraping along financially off the pitch.

They also knew that Wakey were hamstrung by not owning their ground, and knowing that the Cas-fan (rumoured shareholder) led WMDC were in no mood to facilitate any progress for them.

Karma, eh? She's a bitc...

Maybe the maintenance would have been better spent on improvements?

If everyone had realised it was that simply then RL would rule supreme. Such a missed opportunity......

Mate, they sell frozen chickens with 3 legs - don't tell me they aren't minted!

You're a bit behind, the Fultons frozen business was sold to Poundland in 2021 who promptly shut down all the stores.

PS you mint lamb not chicken, although given some of the stuff you could get from Fultons...... 😉

They're not.

They're not frozen or they don't have 3 legs?

Joking aside, it makes sense of the rumours of the family wanting their money out.

The Fulton's in my local village is now a funeral parlour.

Read into that what you will.

Cas have left Wheldon Road (and their other "facilities") to rot as they have jumped from one planning proposal to the next. Its holding them back.

Whatever happens, any chance you could build a proper rugby stadium please, 100m x 68m with no slope from the touchlines and dead-ball lines, plenty of space between the advertising boards and the touchlines and no gap between the advertising boards and the wall in front of the seats. Thanks.

Interesting to note that Cas are issuing seated season tickets "subject to change due to works on the main stand during the off season".

Also worth noting that the Cas pitch flooded heavily last week.

I just listened to a Cas Podcast - done not long after the release of the IMG gradings - where Cas Managing Director, Mark Grattan, spoke about the flooding at the ground last weekend. A corner of the ground and the entrance to the players tunnel had some standing water.

Further flooding occurred due to a large local main drainage tunnel that had a major fault.  The ground - plus the houses in the local area - had further flooding issue - as hours later there was a further ‘collapsing’ of the main drain which meant that the flow of the rain water was stopped and began to back up out of the nearest drain which was at the Cas ground.  A number of rooms were flooded in the main stand area.

The pitch was like a boating lake.

On top of that IIRC ‘Tricky’ Dicky Wright attended the PI for the original hearing for Newmarket saying Trinity didn’t need a new ground they could come & share with us.

when Box was still in charge Cas were more than happy with how things were progressing. There was tears of laughter on the Cas forum from the majority at the trials & tribulations going on at Belle Vue. Not so funny now is it!
