GeordieSaint
The sport over here may not have the glitz, the glamour nor finances of the NRL. It may not have the same quality levels of early 00s. But this has been a cracking season. Really enjoyed it. Some really good teams. Can’t wait for the play offs and more of the same.
OriginalMrC
Best season for years. Quality of the rugby has been brilliant and we've seen some amazing games this year. The fact that no one has a clue who can win it heading into the playoffs says it all

As a Wire fan, I have no idea whether I'm looking forward to the playoffs or not!!! But I agree, a lot to enjoy this year, Leigh have been a breath of fresh air and there have been plenty shocks, twists and turns.

Just a fact to dwell on, Saints have a poor record against Warrington in play offs and finals
Damien
I think it's been close with plenty of twists and turns but I do think the quality of the top teams has been way off. When Wigan were having a bad patch earlier this season I'd have never said we'd finish top. Saints and Catalans have had bad spells and games too. That is before the rest and the less said about the bottom couple of teams the better. I do think Leigh have been the bright spot and we have had some great attendances. Some really close and exciting games too with some crackers on TV. Edited September 22 by Damien
Futtocks
It has been an exciting and intriguing 2023. The whole thing starting off the back of St Helens' beating of Penrith. The drama of Warrington's red-hot start, followed by their implosion, high-profile coach departure and resurgence. Leigh with their "third time's the charm" SL season going far better than anyone expected. A CC Final, which temporarily placated the perennial "we need new names in the final" folk, that didn't disappoint in the slightest. A close struggle for top spot all the way. Channel 4 still picking a high percentage of absolute belters. Lots of young players impressing the hell out of everyone. Plenty more stuff I can't immediately bring up late on a Friday, with a few glasses of red in me, but certainly a noticeable amount of positivity* to counter the usual "the end is nigh" doomsters. And Tonga still to come. *okay, some of that upbeat feeling was from people being cheered up by the absolute and hilarious Inverdale-show that was the RU Premiership. I agree that it's been exciting - last night was superb back-and-forth stuff across all the games with Leigh-Wigan as the anchor - but also agree that the quality has often been so-so. gingerjon
Probably the best SL season in terms of competitiveness that I can remember in a long while. Obviously, *waves arms at the state of the sport generally*, everything else gives cause for concern but the product on the pitch is top drawer. Build a man a fire, and he'll be warm for a day. Set a man on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life. (Terry Pratchett)

To be fair, 'Super League' is the title of the thread. I don't think you can blame someone for focusing on Super League in a conversation about Super League. meast
Cracking season? Or just that most teams aren't particularly good and Wigan are the best of a bad bunch? I don't think the quality is that cracking although the closeness of things are. 1 Huddersfield Giants Supporters Association
