Would it be a good idea to merge the English and French league systems?

Well maybe we could invite a certain number of teams over here for it (naybe not 4) with the prerequisite that they have to fund it themselves. If they're serious about joining the English system, they could test the waters with this.

Test the waters in what way?

Crowds?  Realising just how much it would cost?  Or what?

Find a way to fund this....

Next year for example:

SuperLeague

Wigan, Saints, Hull, Wire, KR, Salford, Huddersfield, Catalans, Fev, Cas, Leigh, Leeds

No relegation - Promotion via IMG

Conferences

Can split into 8 conferences of 4 or 4 conferences of 8. There's a really successful sport that follows this model.

For example:

France Yorkshire North Rest
Limouxin Bradford Whitehaven North Wales Crusaders
Carcasonne Wakey Workington Midlands
St Gaudens Hunslet Barrow Sheffield
Vellenueve York Newcastle Doncaster
Limouxin Dewbsury Swinton London
Carcasonne Keighley Widnes London Skolars
St Gaudens Halifax Oldham Toulouse
Vellenueve Batley Rochdale

Cornwall

Home and away intra conference is 14 games and then follow the NFL model re weighting to determine an additional x number of games.

Play offs could be anything.

When did Sheffield and Doncaster leave Yorkshire?

Another blocks conference non-starter...

Further development

Glasgow, Edinburgh, Borders, Highlands, Connacht, Leinster, Munster, Ulster - Add when they're ready.

So, never, then.

The working class argument is a bit dated I think, the NRL have shown what you can do with a working class sport and while easier said than done, that should be the aspiration.

I think "working class" in Australia and the North of England are two very different things.

RL is so big in NSW and Queensland that it cannot be ignored. Comparing it with UK RL is pointless.

RU in the UK attracts much wealthier sponsors that RL does so tell me again about the working class angle in the UK being dated?

I gather RL in Australia used to be like that (looked down on as a working class sport) but they’ve smashed their way out of it. Blaming our woes on that is lame imho, as they’ve shown what can be done.

Comparing the UK game with that in Australia is unbelievable on so many levels.

Who's in charge of providing sandwiches?

Maybe a downgraded version of the pizza deal, Greg’s can come on board as a contra partner. Or maybe with the French on board we can source for a baguette partner for a little more pizazz. Who says the French add nothing?
