Not sure exactly what's happened but it seems like a good excuse to offload some highly paid quota players who aren't offering much, which is entirely Catalans perogative if the players are in the wrong.

McNamara has improved Catalans in some ways but their recruitment from the NRL is still largely disastrous…

They never seem to learn do they? Living in the south of France does seem to attract southern hemisphere players that are more interested in a jolly.

Makes me wonder if the rugby union clubs have the same problem, or is it a rugby league/Dragons specific issue?

No idea, I suspect it may be different as French RU clubs would be getting the cream of their sport, like the NRL in, where as Catalans seem to sign players that past the NRL, often have chequered histories and at the tail end of their careers.

Now being reported that Yates will be making the move to Warrington immediately rather than waiting for next season. Wonder if Hudds have a replacement lined up, or cutting some costs for rest of the season?

Is this now a 2024 transfer that was a 2025 transfer, this will surely test the separate thread system!

Do we need a transfer thread for posts that need to transfer from one thread to another?

This was in circulation on Saturday, along with another player who was rumoured to be returning to a former club.

Joe Bullock -> Salford on loan for the rest of the season.

Ed Chamberlain -> Hull FC on loan for the rest of the season ahead of a permanent move in 2025 (as discussed in the 2025 transfer tracker thread)

Apparently Hull are trying to get John Asiata across early on a similar arrangement. Not sure if Leigh will go for that one though.

Is it important which club's physio is looking after him?

I think a lot will depend on whether we can use the freed up spot to get Armstrong to Leigh early. If not, can't really see the sense in Leigh releasing him. Chamberlain made perfect sense, as he only makes the 17 of a couple are injured. Hopefully Hull can give him a proper run of games in the same position, he's had a poor season so far (like a lot of Leigh players tbf) and playing as the cover in multiple positions can't have helped

Hull FC release Cam Scott with immediate effect.

Scott moves from Hull FC's treatment table across to Wakefield's.

Now being reported that King Vuniyayawa is heading to Hull. Is there still an overseas spot free after that, or is that it for Hull? (Can't keep up with the comings and goings of Hull's quota players!)

Neither can I!

I think Vuniyayawa is just until the end of the season though.

We've currently got Ese'ese, Sao, Tuimavave and Cartwright on quota. Not sure what Chan's status is, and  he's only a loanee anyway. I think that's it for this season. Next season the only confirmed overseas coming in is Asiata, and it's expected that Tuimavave will retire.

Pretty sure Chan doesn’t count as overseas / non-fed trained. So plenty of room on the quota for this season by the looks of it.

I could see plenty of logic in an early move for Asiata if Leigh are able to bring in a 2025 signing early as well. Especially if Leigh lose one of the next two games, although I’d say top 6 chances are gone anyway.

This season for  Leigh is gone.Id personally ask  Hull do they want Asiata and Hardaker today.?

Pointless throwing money now seeing as the season is a dead rubber...Salford are 9 league points in front already so get rid of the big earners now.

Sad really when teams are putting their cues on the rack in July but this is the model we are playing to.

Only two points I would counter that with are;

1) We still need to raise a squad for the remaining Super League and reserves games. We've only named a 20 man squad for tomorrow

2) If we finish above Cas and Hull, we claw back some of the 0.25 points lost from the indicative IMG score that we gained last year from winning the Challenge cup. So securing a top 8 finish could prove very important.

If Armstrong, or any other overseas signings that we may have made (not seen any reported yet) are able to move to Leigh ahead of the deadline, allowing more time to settle in before next season, then I can see a logic in freeing up an overseas spot. But otherwise, I'd say no.

Yes,your  rationale is more than reasonable as always   It's all about IMG now. Clearly Huddersfield are happy for Yates to leave for Warrington..I was hoping that Chris Chesters would be on to the Knights to see if Armstrong can get an early release.

The .25 is very important and I can see that now.
