They should do easily. If they can't get over 25k for a quadruple header then something is up. They should be getting that for Australia v Tonga by itself.

When it comes to crowds in the Southern hemisphere its Tonga that are the power houses.

There was a sold out Christchurch test as well.

While welcome it was only 17k. It was Tonga fans that led to the big Brisbane crowd and completely outnumbered NZ fans yesterday.

Brisbane does not have the same Tonga diaspora as Auckland by any means.
It was a very large crowd by Australian standards this century.

By this point, I am not sure what you are trying to say - is it how wonderful it is that having a new powerhouse in the game is leading to record crowds? In which case I agree it’s a positive factor, and one in which Australia played a massive part in supporting the second tier eligibility rules. Or is it that the crowds are illusory because it’s “only” Tonga? In which case, I honestly can’t see where you are coming from and your motivation, but I am simply looking at record crowds for our game and am delighted to see them.

The crowd was full of Tongans, that was very evident.

I'm not even sure what you are trying to argue to be honest or why you keep coming back. You talked about NZ and Australia being the traditional power houses, I was merely pointing out that in terms of crowds that is now Tonga. Thought that was obvious and it certainly is to anyone watching these internationals over the last 7 or 8 years.

Maybe just two top of the table teams - Albi had a 100% record before this.

Worth watching the deciding try. 39:47 on the clock in the second half and Catalans get a penalty in their own half.

The player who scored looked offside to me ! 🙂

A News Corpse report today says 6000 tickets were sold within hours of Tonga's win over New Zealand in Auckland on Saturday night …

They just get unbelievable support. Tongan fans also provide the best atmospheres too.

They certainly turned out in massive numbers for last year’s Samoa New Zealand game, and were even polite enough to wear Samoa and Kiwi tops for the occasion.

Jesus wept, what are you even arguing about now? Are you trying to say Tonga don't bring big crowds? Unless that is your point you are arguing simply for the sake of it.

Is it true you guys actually still use physical tickets over in the Superleague?

Are digital tickets an option at least?

Question prompted by a tweet I saw about someone having to get a physical ticket for an away game sent to their own teams home ground.

I can't remember being issued a physical ticket in years - Super League, Championship or League 1. It's pretty much entirely digital if that's what you want.

I'm sure there will be some people who prefer physical tickets and I assume they are still available for such people or anyone without the means to use a digital ticket.

You can get them, if you so choose, but the vast majority will be digital tickets now. Even the Rhinos season tickets are going digital next year.

That said, I've seen some interesting away tickets issued over the past decade too.

It isn't even accurate.

Indeed. Mascord appears to be on a bit of a downer on UK RL atm - reminiscent of his colleague!

Away tickets issued by the away club as far as I know are entirely paper based.

This is probably entirely practical as it's difficult for an away club to sell another team's stadium any other way. And as the away team gets a cut of the sales they don't want to leave it to the home team to sell the away tickets.

Game by game tickets issued by the home clubs are largely print at home or digital now. Most clubs still issue physical season tickets I think, not sure but I imagine most are on a digital card now rather than paper.

Although attending as a neutral, over the past couple of years I've attended a few Championship/L1 matches where I've chosen to sit/stand with the away supporters and have therefore bought tickets as though I were a fan of that team.

I don't doubt what you write is correct for the games you attend, but I can only think of Newcastle where I didn't use a digital ticket as an 'away' supporter - and there it was early this year when they seemed to still be finding their feet after nearly going bust.

Perhaps it is just the clubs I happen to have gone to, but it seems odd that Championship clubs would be more likely to use digital tickets for away fans than Super League clubs.

Maybe it's just Leeds insisting on being sent a batch of paper tickets! But that's the only thing i've ever received when buying away tickets through them and I go to a majority of away games each year.

Can you blame him/them?  Their press mates back home are reporting on a sport that’s flying, over here they have to report on a sport that is talking about bringing back Yorks v Lancs as a means of “reimagining” the sport.  Wow.  Can’t wait for the 7,221 crowd at Wigan for this beauty…..we really are a local game for local people and even that’s shrinking!

Slightly different in the Championship as not all of the clubs receive an away allocation in the same manner as Super League clubs (or indeed Premier League or EFL, as I have pointed out to Mr Mascord in response to his nonsensical tweet)

Most (if not all) clubs have an option for a digital ticket when bought through the home club, but sheer logistics as @M j M pointed out determines otherwise when buying through the away club. It is even the case for the Challenge Cup Final if you buy any of the 100 tickets allocated to each Championship/League One club.

**For the sake of debate, it’s entirely possible to set up receiving digital tickets when bought from the away club. However, they’d still have to go off sale 12-36 hours before the game (depending on the timing of the match) for purely reporting purposes and/or provide barcode details. Or alternatively paying a significant cost to set up APIs amongst each clubs differing ticket systems which just isn’t worth the time, money or effort. I’ve been involved in experiments involving both and generally speaking it’s been, at best, lukewarm. You can of course in some cases buy for the away end directly from the home club, but then of course your club would miss out on their commission in that scenario.

He's just being a bit of a tool at the moment.

Some tickets are paper, some plastic, some print at home, some digital.

What's everybody's take on Rivals (Easter) Round? Is a 90k aggregate achievable?

I really like the look of this, perhaps the only thing I would have changed, would have been for Wire play at home, which would likely add a few thousand on to the overall total.

Huddersfield are not Leeds' rivals.

Come to think of it half these games are really making up the rivals numbers aren't they?
