There's another 15/20 players the same level as these players but they level off after u19s

How many of these will go on to play for Catalans and Toulouse?

From today the 1 is at catalans, the 4 lenny marc, the 6 Gimenez the 2 replacement props too, only the 1 has played higher than u19s, the 9 was from Toulouse but came through the lezignan system, the 17 from Toulouse too, out of these I reckon 2 or 3 will make full time rugby the rest will play elite 1, jammes, martin and rostang have played elite 1 all year as has the number 1 for xiii Catalan, you may not believe this but the no1 played his first ever game as a full back today, he plays centre and played 13 in the u17s france team.

That no1 would have Robin Brochon a run for his money!

He plays centre with the xiii Catalan team in elite 1 , he's the only player from this french team tonight training as a pro, he's been 18th man a couple of times with the catalans but not made his debut yet.

It has to be said, I am assuming the coach Paul Anderson wanted his team to play like this but ffs it’s an international.

At no time in the game did England bother to try and win the battle up front, they just wanted to go wide almost every play without earning the right. The amount of dropped ball was disappointing.

Even when they went ahead 37-36 with a minute or two to play, they still didn’t control the ball.

Well done to both teams, they both got what they deserved.

Need to get more young French lads into SL (and let's be real for serious progress NRL) squads. This sort of result needs to be put out around agents and clubs by the FFRXIII I'd necessary.

The French team was a lot better than I expected.

This team beat the England lions u17s with 50 points in each test. This is the age group of my son so I've watched them all come through, there's a lot of quality, it just stagnates around 18 years old (studies, work, life lack of pro structure etc).

If the RFL were serious about getting France to be more competitive then they could encourage each SL to pick up these French U19 players without them counting on the salary cap.

How do they all get visas post-brexit?

Of those reasons how significant is the lack of pro structure in your opinion ?

Yes, the french pro teams don't really scout the french kids, well since the academy finished anyway.  they hold trials and anyone can go along. But one good thing over here are the pole espoirs in Carcassonne and salon de Provence and pole france in Toulouse, the kids train every day whilst still doing their studies from thz age of 15 to 17/18 years old. But this again is a selection, they go to school then train afterwards all week and return to their clubs the Weekend, when this finishes at 18  they  end up training 2  or 3 times a week back in clubland if they're good enough to train with the elite they still progress but not like they would in a pro club, no elite club is pro.

Then university education comes into play and they're finished, cesar rouge brother was an excellent prop with the catalans youth and reserves but gave it up to study engineering. If he was in a real pro club he could do have done both,

So yes it's a lack of pro clubs or pro set ups that stops the progress at 18. My son has just finished pole france and will train with lezignan elite (after he recovers from his shoulder op) but he will go from 4 field and 4  gym sessions a week to 3 field and 2 gym sessions (optional).

Although he wants to go and join an academy next summer if he's good enough. (he's lucky as he has both passports so no problems for visas)

Results like this show the potential of the player pool in France. But you need more pro clubs in order to maintain the talent pipeline post-18 years of age. This is one of the key arguments for having a 2nd club in France.

But of course all the xenophobes worry about is “mOneY LeAvinG thE eNgliSh gAmE” or some other nonsense, as if yet more clubs in West Yorkshire will really make a strategic difference to the growth of the sport .

A bit late but just finished rewatching. Terrific game, great performances from both sides and a lot of great talent.

For the England team Robertson, Charles and Whitby were fantastic as expected. Also very impressed with Qareqare. Davies and Kerr did very well in the fowards and Taylor-Wray and Casale were superb off the bench.

For France Aispuro-Bichet played out of this world. He truly has the tools to become top quality first grader. Rostang and Marc are also both superb I think they will both make SL or NRL. Shame Clement Martin is going to Union, he is such an athlete and would have made NRL or SL.

Rostang has 0 game management

Not particularly a bad thing. He is a terrific player. Plays what he see’s. Not many halves these days who play off instinct. So many halves are now over coached.

Besides, some of the best halves around currently play mostly off instinct, think Mikey Lewis and Sam Walker. Rostang is incredibley talented, so happy he got to prove himself in this match. I’m sure plenty of SL and NRL clubs will be looking to sign him now.

Yes good to lift your head up, but bombs in your own 40 that land on the 50, twice attempting a drop with 15 minutes to go, which gave 7 tackles that England scored from, jammin in in defence when not needed, he's a great player and played really well against Lézignan this year. when it comes off it's genius, when it doesn't and teams get used to playing against him you need a little structure and game management to fall back on,

The players you mentioned have learnt to do both, but this may my coaching side coming out of me and not the spectator 😁

The last game v England was a close tussle so we (and Anderson) shouldn’t have expected an easy ride and planned accordingly.  Didn’t happen and the French beat us at our own game. Either way both groups will have learned but maybe Balloo’s position will now be considered/reviewed.

I hope he gets decent coaching at Lezignan 😉

Harvey Smith withdrawing from England probably didn’t help been late and a pivotal position. He’d have been a big influence in the middle. I’m happy he played for Trinity though and very well against grown men.

Well done to the France lads though. Highlights the need for improvement in the England youth system.
