Play off Permutations

Recommended Posts

Rovers still have a chance of reaching the play offs even if we lose the last game at York. But we need to beat Dewsbury first.                                         Widnes play Toulouse at home and Barrow away .They seem to have dropped off a bit so to get the one win they need will be difficult. So if results go in our favour and we scrape into sixth place we would probably play Bradford  at the fantastic modern stadium that is Odsal.Friday night is a big game Sheffield v York and i think a Sheffield win would be better for us.

I think that Widnes will beat Barrow, if they need to win. For me, we need to win both matches, and on current form, I’d give us minimal chance of winning at York.

It's a funny old game ! Knowone gave us a chance at Widnes or the bulls but we won. Yes York will be favourites but Fev like to be underdogs.

It's interesting going through the ifs and buts. But I think we don't need to take Dewsbury lightly. To me in the last two games Fev have looked like a relegation team. Having said that I think York could be the dark horses of these play offs and it will be a  very difficult ask to go there and win if needed.

Think we'll give you a game for 40 minutes before you post a big win.

I'm struggling to see how a Sheffield win would benefit us.  In fact whether the result matters at all.  Either way York will almost certainly overtake us if they beat us in the last game.  Plus given that Sheffield play Dewsbury in their last game I can't see how we can catch them.  The only other remote possibility is that Sheffield hammer York and we hammer Dewsbury which might mean we could lose narrowly at York and finish 6th.  Highly unlikely but the only possibility that hasn't been mentioned.

Its a shame that Barrow probably won't need to beat Widnes but we shouldn't really be having to rely on other results.

It's still in our hands and if we don't win both games we don't deserve it.  Although you could argue that whatever we do in the last couple of games we don't deserve it anyway - given how inconsistent we've been this year (and that's putting it lightly)

Thats one way of looking at it.  But thinking about some of the pathetic efforts at times this year, the alleged quality of players at our disposal and the playing budget compared to some of our rivals, as much as I'm desperately wanting us to sneak in the 6 and at least have chance of something to take from the season, like I say part of me will think that we didn't deserve it.

It's the only way imho. Some poor displays along with some good wins.

I'll drink to that but if we don't beat Dewsbury do we really deserve to be in the play offs.

No disrespect to Dewsbury but if we can't beat them the whole lot want sacking. This squad have proved they are better then last two results.

Last night's result changes nothing AFAICS.

We've got to win today and at York.

YES  and NO M In the grand scheme of things it was always going to be York away But I would have thought it would have put  more pressure on them if they started two points behind rather than off scratch

It's simple

Beat york your in the 6

Lose to York your out of the 6

Dont worry about Widnes

Worry about yourselves 🤔

not that simple , they really need widnes to lose both matches ,  cos there's no way they'll beat york.
