I'd go further. If PSG, Toulouse and a revamped Hughes-free Broncos joined a 12 team SL in 2026, it'd give that comp the biggest boost it's ever had.

It might even tempt me to start watching it again.

Not like you to fall behind three big city franchises being plonked into the top tier.

On thread, I had so many good times at Carlisle. It would be great to see them back but I think any expansion in Cumbria is further away now than ever.

You're right. I've always been a strict P&R with well structured minimum standards kind of guy

I just feel it's all gone a bit surreal with Rule by dodgy metrics in SL and Trump back in the White House, so what the hell.

Broughton/Belle Vue Rangers. Although originating in Broughton in Salford, they moved to Gorton in Manchester and played at the belle Vue stadium. They folded in 1955. Would provide a 'central' Manchester club.

Good call

And the prize for first spurious mention of Donald Trump in a completely unrelated rugby league thread goes to…..

Huyton, went there once to see Fulham play.

Very brave of you.

I spent the games there on tenterhooks wondering what state the car would be in when I returned to it.

Also, remember the kids swinging on ropes attached to the stand roof.

Did you ever go in the ‘social club’?

Whatever the issues were, it was cool having Toronto in the British system.

Yes and swapped them for Leigh.

I think its fair to say the Robert Elstone fitted in very well the RFL's thinking.

When the RFL turned down Manchester Rangers request to be included in League showed that the RFL really don't want a club in Manchester.

To be fair did you see Manchester Rangers’ bid? I didn’t, so I don’t know if it was good enough or not, but surely even the RFL wouldn’t have turned them down if it was.

What i did see of it i think it would have worked, but water under the bridge now, but still irks me.

Do you know the reason for not accepting them?

I don't to be honest.

I would guess that the RFL didn't think they would be viable, but i never see a statement from the RFL why they was rejected. I don't even know if there was a statement let alone made public.

This was the time when a sighting of Ralph Rimmer was as rare as hens teeth.

Bizarrely, then Fulham owner Roy Close parked his brand new Jaguar XJS on some waste ground outside the ground and came back to find that no one had touched it! Maybe the locals thought that it belonged to a big crack dealer.

I really wouldn't care!

When the amateur club looked at turning pro this year, Farsley Celtic's ground was suggested.

O/T - but aren't Farsley Celtic currently playing in Buxton, nearly 2 hours drive away from "home"?

Eddie, if you think that's "unrelated", just wait. 😂 And gratuitous use of the word spurious in this context, too, but still.

It's ok gingerjon, I'll split the prize money with you.
