Oldham's "X" / Twitter feed has announced that Wigan will be bringing all their star players to the friendly on the 19th, alright they may not play and it still may be a reserve team but they will be in attendance none the less plus Wigan will also be bringing all their 4 trophies to be on display in the fans bar.

Good bit of PR between both clubs, should get a few bums on seats

Wonder if former yed tyler dupre will be playing? Oh and kruise leeming who was on on loan axwhile back.

I would think Tyler will play for sure plus a couple of Oldham lads, Zak Eckersley & Jacob Douglas.Plus George Hirst of course.

Might be a bit too big😊

Perhaps move the pot plant over a smudge.

Looking at the ticket plan looks around 1500+ so far.

Just watched the boundary line and really looking forward to the game

Be interesting to see the squad tomorrow. Given its the cup next week this is likely to be preferred team with us also playing Wednesday

Looks like the Joe Royale stand is virtually sold out. Looks like I'm in the Rochdale road end today.  The good times are returning

Had a horrible feeling it was going to all one way traffic in the first 10mins but we grew in to the game and gave a good account of ourselves I thought..

Was great to back at BP and was nice to see a big crowd there aswell.

We were 16-0 down after 10 mins - terrible start just made too many early mistakes. Once we settled we played well. Was always going to be tough against them.

Great to see Mo come across at pace and chase their lad down.

In the end a creditable scoreline. Good crowd - bringing in a few quid in exchange for losing Hurst in the long term

Bring on the Hornets. Just hope we didn't pick up any injuries.

I know it was a friendly and it's about getting game time and ironing out the snags, but at least we won the second half. Can't wait for Wednesday,  need to get a decent pair of gloves and ear warmers though. How did I survive winter rugby up at sheddings? Oh that's right i was much younger!!

3029 crowd. After 10 minutes I thought we were in for a pasting from a fit, speedy, well-drilled Wigan who included Dupree, Leeming, Waters (Walters?). Overall though our effort was outstanding imo. All the forwards throughout were excellent. Logan Astley made a positive difference. Matty Wildie was very strong. A lot to iron out -ie bombing out of the line; both centres did that, leaving huge gaps. Catching the high ball would be useful. Given that we absolutely bombed two ‘certain’ tries I think Sean and the boys can be pleased with a very useful and largely positive run out. Competition for places is going to be excellent and if we keep improving I can see us (hopefully) being a force this season.
Special word for the referee who confounded me on at least six occasions. Consistency, I suppose you’d call it.

The Wigan front row were all England international. Walter and Forber are England Knights. Zak Eckersley is now established in the first team along with Jack Farrimond.

The referee was atrocious at Keighley when we bwere at them and was worse today. The Wigan fans around us said it was embarrassing the way he way reffing it.

interesting comments from Bill Quinn in the lounge pre game where he mentioned dual reg with Wigan. Said they were welcome to borrow players if they were stuck!

Thought we were terrible in the first twenty and really got dominated by Dupree, Byrne and Hill with Leeming and Farrimond carving us up off their good work. Thought we probably edged the last 60 mins but defence looked off all game which is understandable first game back.

Thought there were signs of a big improvement with the ball as in the second half we caused them a lot of problems shifting the ball out wide from deep. Thought Dean and Astley were excellent in the second half and were our best players along with Moran. All the experienced signings were very quiet with Dudson and Milner only playing 20 mins and Ashurst was withdrawn just after half time.

Hope for Wednesday Logan gets a good spell at full back as he looked electric. Would like Sambou to get another chance as although he made a few errors he looks extremely promising.

With the best, thats a good bit of PR, though I would say the Bedford team, theres, like, you know, 13 blokes who can get together at the weekend to have a game together, which doesnt point to expansion of the game. Point, yeah go on!

Apart from the first 15 mins when i thought we were gonna be in for an absolute hammering for me Oldham put up a really good show today against a fast, well drilled Wigan outfit who although not a full on "first team" would have give any current Super League team a run for its money.

Its obviously only the first game this year, new players, new systems & plays etc that need to be fine tuned so its inevitable errors will be made at the beginning but after what i saw today there was no need for any concern, for me only optimism as I'm still convinced the squad that has been assembled and with the guidance of Sean Long and the back room staff can be a force to be reckoned with in the Championship.

There will for certain be some squad rotation for Wednesday's game against Rochdale so looking forward to a really good game - COME ON OLDHAM!!!!!!

Tell you what though, "Ice Station Zebra" certainly lived up to its name today, my god it was bloody cold this afternoon, not been that cold at a rugby game for many a year. Will look forward to "Summer Rugby" when it eventually arrives 🤣

I would agree that Sambou has some flair, but needs to do the basics much better and seemed to be playing to his own agenda.
