I have a lot of respect for Fev. Always a real hot bed of the sport. As have all but the so-called ‘top clubs’ you’ve been treated beyond shabbily by the powers that be. I hope you get back to former glories as soon as - though behind Oldham, obv. Always had a soft spot for a banner I saw paraded through Castleford during Maurice Lindsay’s proposed merger days: ‘Fev is Fev; Cas is Cas - stick your merger up your ***.’

Lol it was me who made that banner on an old white sheet,i didn't need to write the last word 😅, NEVER would we join with c@$ in a million years.

With the best, thats a good bit of PR, though I would say the Bedford team, theres, like, you know, 13 blokes who can get together at the weekend to have a game together, which doesnt point to expansion of the game. Point, yeah go on!

So. My first live game in many a year.

First off, match day experience is great, can really feel the positivity around the club as soon as you arrive, so well done to all involved. Just wish the website made it a little clearer it's more expensive to pay on the day, but you live and learn! Felt like there was more than the announced crowd.

The game itself i felt oldham didn't really get going, always felt that if they could get going then they'd win which thankfully happened.  Seems the quality of the referees hasn't improved sadly but at least he got the red card correct.

Overall it felt good to be back at a live game and I'll definitely be coming back again.

Up the 'yeds!

Fantastic result Oldham, hard fought and won. Good job though their goalkeeper couldn't kick a goal! Roll on semi final now, will be a real humdinger, can't wait! Don't agree with attendance, there was far more than the 1600 announced.

Not the greatest performance from a depleted Oldham team (missing the likes of Wildie, Craven, Lawton, Taylor, Agoro, Astley, O’Keefe and Dixon). Despite being second best for much of the game, we showed plenty of guile and a wins a win.

Fev also missing plenty (Tuimavave, Day, Boothroyd, Vuniyayaywa and Akauola, all of whom were regulars in the 17 during pre-season).

Does anyone know the golden gamble winning number at todays game? Asking for my dad who bought a ticket for the first time ever today! 😂😂😂

Most teams have people out, don't they? It's the nature of the game.

I thought Featherstone were excellent in the first half and exploited Oldham's left hand side mercilessly. With a goal kicker, they might have been out of sight.

In the second half, I thought Oldham shaded it.

The key turning points were some desperate defence by Oldham and then the sending off. It looked at best reckless and seemed justified, particularly by modern standards.

I wouldn't have been too disappointed if the kick had gone over at the end as it would have capped a tremendous game of rugby league which sets up the semi final marvellously.

Hard to criticise such a class player but I felt Drinkys kicks were just too long for us to compete and gave Fev easy ball. The one which led to Thornleys try showed what can be done.

Now that was a proper game of Championship Rugby League!!!!

Oldham got the two points but that was an end to end game and Featherstone really played their part and are a really decent outfit, their current league position does not do justice to the quality of their team, some of their attacking play was very impressive and i was nervous every time they got anywhere near our line as i thought they could go over at any point.

In the end through sheer bloody guts, determination and damn hard work Oldham got the job done and a "win is a win" no matter how achieved. I don't think Oldham played badly, I think they were just taken aback as to how good Featherstone were and struggled to stamp their usual dominance on the game. Fair play to Oldham though, they stuck at it and got the win all be it with a bit of help from the Featherstone kicker who had an absolute mare, i think i could have done a better job 🤣

Not sure about Nene Macdonald in this team though, fantastic statement signing by the board all be it short term and there is no doubt he is a class player but to me it has disjointed the team. He's a bit of a maverick and a bloody good one but I'm not sure in the short time he's been with us the rest of the squad have had any idea what he is actually going to do on the pitch and i think our play has been effected. If he had been with us from the beginning of the season and been involved in training sessions etc he'd probably be absolute dynamite by now but I'm not sure this short term three game loan has had the desired effect. No slight on anyone involved as your not going to turn down the chance of adding a player of such quality to your squad but i feel to be really effective would probably need a bit more time to get used to how Oldham play and understand all the pre planned moves that are practised in training. Watch this now he'll have an absolute blinder at Widnes on Good Friday and score a bucket full of points and rip the opposition apart, here's hoping!!!

Anyway, Oldham continue to upset the apple cart in the Championship and are are force to be reckoned, well done all involved and am proud to follow this team of triers who most certainly never lie down and always put a shift in when required, WELL DONE OLDHAM and roll on to Widnes!!!!

Not sure about a crowd of 1600 ish??? Looked a darn site more than 1600 there today, be interesting to watch the highlights in the week. Also all the best to George Hirst, hope he's OK? Saw the tackle on him and it was a fully justified red card

Fantastic game and full credit to Fev they were absolutely superb first half carving us up out wide on the edge with Hampshire putting in a magnificent display. We looked slow on the left edge and that will be a worry in the coming weeks.

Think the key to the game was them taking their foot off the gas after the try right after half time. Thought we were the better team nearly for all the second half after that and should have put the game to bed after Thornley's try but some very poor decision making going for the drop goal and then two stupid rips let them back into the game.

Individually Thornley was class at right centre and should have been MOTM for me. PLT very good again. Agree with the  McDonald shout above. He's a brilliant player but has really disrupted that left side both in attack and defence. Thought we went forward well as always we when we actually had the ball which makes it so much more frustrating when we make stupid errors as they are so unnecessary. Think our attack is looking a lot better than last season and I was always confident we could score enough to comeback but defence is definitely something we need to work on.

Another massive game on Friday away at Widnes. COME ON OLDHAM.

McDonald looks great with ball in hand but defending he kept rushing out of the line looking to put a hit on but never got there and it left us looking exposed every time as they just shipped the ball past him.

Featherstone seemed to have quite unorthodox last tackle plays, frequently making several passes prior to kicking and we never really got to grips with it but those plays often turned decent sets by them into very good ones and that combined with fev's discipline put us on the back foot.  Every time we got field position we put points on them and if we'd controlled field position better we'd have been pretty comfortable.

Definitely wasn't boring!

And, we're starting to put a bit of early season 'daylight' between us and the teams in the lower section of the league table. We really don't want to get involved in the end of season playoff '8s'.

Unfortunately it did show all the empty seats so I guess the crowd was correct.

It really is a shame as people don't know what they are missing.

Appreciate we have dozens of topics about this. But I really really hope Bill and Mike realise that the crowds will come, they just may not come as quickly as we all hoped. So hope they can be patient.

In the meantime, my OH appears to be buying at least the cost of an extra ticket in merch every time we visit Boundary Park. So hopefully merch sales are sending a good message to the Board.

We ended up with a scarf and a water bottle this week. Can't remember last time she wore a scarf (or filled up a water bottle)

If we can get to Wembley that will blow the doors off, local exposure would be huge for the club should it happen. I'd be happy to sacrifice a league game or two for what a Wembley trip could do for the club. It would have a bigger impact than winning the championship would in my opinion.

We need all local sports fans to turn up for the semi final and have BP rocking.
