Being very history nerd here , but I’ve come across a fascinating series on YouTube called Arms in Action about the history of weaponry , made by Royal Armouries . It’s about 25 years old but is the sort of cerebral documentary series you don’t get that much of now

This is exactly the case with me as well.

Okay, I was away from a TV when I posted earlier, but I just got home and checked. I can watch the channel  normally. Drop them a line and let them know your postcode.

I'm in London, so there may be a local broadcast or transmitter fault where you are.

Only Murders in the Building is back for season 3.  Such a good show.

With the best, thats a good bit of PR, though I would say the Bedford team, theres, like, you know, 13 blokes who can get together at the weekend to have a game together, which doesnt point to expansion of the game. Point, yeah go on!

Anyone watching/watched 'Wolf' on BBC 1? I am watching it old school style, ie every week when it's broadcast rather than on iPlayer. I can't decide whether I like it or not but like I often do, am sticking with it to see what happens.

I'm not watching it myself but I'm gonna suggest that it ends with Sam Burgess being sacked pretty quickly!

You missed my post aug 1st warning people not to watch it , thought it was an uncomfortable mix of cliched horror and a Brian Rix farce .

Amol Rajan is beginning to get on my nerves on University Challenge when nearly every time a contestant gets a starter right He will say "Of course it was whoever/whatever) " as if it`s a given .....Not to me it isn`t Amol !

He's fairly tiresome in general.

Maybe start boning up! Not a problem for me.

Because I don't watch it.

I was born to run a club like this. Number 1, I do not spook easily, and those who think I do, are wasting their time, with their surprise attacks.

Could some one tell what has happened to proper entertainment as I just saw this on YouTube and it has the horrible but flithy rich Logan Paul/jake asshole in it...WTF

It's called the internet, not everything is something that you would like.

By the way - the name of the "influencer" is in the title of the video - It is Jake Paul, but it is good to know you have paid enough attention to it all and know he has a brother called Logan as well.

It is also a video from 5 years ago ..

Just a heads-up - both series of Peter Serafinowicz's educational spoof Look around you are currently on the iPlayer.

Never heard of it before tonight. Think I’ll give it a watch 👍🏼

It was always a bit of a low-key oddity. I'm not sure the Beeb knew how to promote it.

Just saw that on there. Never heard of it but thought about giving it a go but opted for Gary: Tank Commander instead. It was okay but don't think I'll carry on with it. I'll give the show you mention a watch.

If you have any recommendations for comedy feel free to send them my way. Over the last couple of years I've been on an odyssey to really discover the comedy genre, a genre I've neglected quite a bit in the past, and have discovered a few shows which have immediately jumped towards the top of the list of my favourites and similarly discovered a lot of rubbish as well. It's been really fun diving into the history of British comedy.

Which of the comedies have you discovered that you liked? That'd help with recommendations.

I've been doing this since the start of the pandemic so I won't be able to remember everything but I'll list some.

So top tier shows that have immediately become my favourites, we have stuff like Detectorists, which is my favourite show of all time, Plebs, which I went out and bought the boxset of, Derry Girls, Bluestone 42, Motherland and The Cleaner.

Shows I enjoyed but probably won't bother watching again, we have stuff like, Uncle, Ladhood, Two Pints of Lagar and a Packet of Crisps, Gavin and Stacey, This Country, White Van Man.

Shows I didn't particularly like include, Blackadder, Outnumbered, The Office, One Foot in the Grave, Our Flag Means Death, The Royle Family, The Witchfinder.

And then of course there are shows that I already watched before I started this and like such as Not Going Out, the Inbetweeners, Vicar of Dibley, Peep Show and The Think of It to name some.

Like I say, I'll have forgotten some shows so do forgive me if you mention something and I say I've already watched it.

Edit. Just remembered Father Ted, my all time favourite show before watching Detectorists! How could I forget that?!

I did but haven’t finished it yet. Not sure I will to be honest, it’s not only a bit weird there are huge faults in the situation. Woman chained to a table that even a moderately strong person could overthrow yet doesn’t? Despite her daughter being chained up nearby? Or chained to a fridge door that could be wrenched off with a bit of effort? Nah….not really buying it.
