The Gallows Pole seems to be dividing viewers.

Its Shane Meadows, so the style is very different.

Also stars a former RL player turned actor.

With the best, thats a good bit of PR, though I would say the Bedford team, theres, like, you know, 13 blokes who can get together at the weekend to have a game together, which doesnt point to expansion of the game. Point, yeah go on!

Poker Face ... offering a new slant on the amateur detective ...  is on Sky now. A thirtyish woman has an uncanny ability to tell when someone is lying.   She has to go on the run when she crosses a casino owner/gangster. Taking cash-in-hand jobs, (so far) she encounters murders involving such personae as an aged rock band, a right wing dog, fading TV stars, a lottery winner and former hippy-terrorist-groupies.  The language can be strong but the script is brilliant and the acting is exceptional.

Catch it if you can.

Good Omens 2 is coming soon. While you wait, enjoy the opening credits sequence (and check out the names involved!)

Yep yep.

What did you think of it??

It was that that it was good... and for that reason, it was one of the best films I've ever seen.

It was also the film that really kickstarted the career of director David Cronenberg who would go on to make classics like Videodrome, The Dead Zone and The Fly, and in more recent times a couple of brilliant crime dramas with Viggo Mortenson called A History of Violence and Eastern Promises, the latter being my personal favourite Cronenberg film and one of my favourite crime films.

If you've never seen Eastern Promises, do. It's about a driver who works for the Russian mafia in London. It was written by Steven Knight before he became more famous for creating Peaky Blinders. Mortenson was nominated for the Academy Award for his performance.

I just noticed Eastern Promises is on BBC iplayer. Can't recommend it enough!

Just a reminder; this Sunday's MotoGP is not only on BT Sport, but also FreeView.
Moto3 and Moto2 on ITV4 from 9:15am, then the main MotoGP race on ITV1.

Sky Movies ... To Catch a Killer.

This is really good.

Must be; I thought it was great  despite the characters ticking all the woke boxes.

Last King of the Cross on Sky, very good so far. Based on John Ibrahim’s rise from poverty to controlling the Kings Cross nightlife scene in Sydney.

I’m not prejudiced, I hate everybody equally

Terrestrial TV seem to put the same films on week after week. Khartoum looks like it’s been put on a loop between some channels.

Have they no more than half a dozen movies between the lot of them ?.

I have noticed this myself. ITV2 seem to just show the Back to the Future trilogy and the Karate Kid films over and over. No problem with those particular films as I'm a fan of both but it does seem like overkill.

You find this with smaller channels when it comes to other programmes though as well. Together TV just seem to show the same half a dozen episodes of Britain's Most Historic Towns over and over. Again, I'm a fan of the show and love Alice Roberts to the point where I have dreams about her which I can't repeat here but it's a bit much when I can recite the entire history of Norwich off the top of my head.

I enjoy watching Alice Roberts as well, she is very good no matter what she does. ITV2 love Hotel Transylvania with a passion.

Torrential downpour on Sunday evening ... water was running out of my shoes on the walk home.

Lost Sky till about 11pm and now BBC1, Channel 5 and Sky Atlantic have still not returned.

Chucking it down again today so can't see the dish drying out before the weekend.

The Sky automated helpdesk is a disgrace. Reckons it can't understand anything you type in. Still, I can't complain; I'm only paying a grand a year. 😕

Bag of cack.

I watched the first episode again for the first time in a while. Could still recite chunks of it, obviously.

Massively dated, you can really spot the lack of budget, acting mostly not great but, y'know, at least it's one of those I watch now and don't have to explain why I loved it at the time.

Do you notice how in so many tv dramas it’s bright daylight and people inside have all their lights ( and lamps ) on

Absolutely , but also notice anytime anyone enters a House where they are looking for a murderer or suspect , they never turn the lights ON but fumble about with a torch they bought in poundland .
