OMG! OMG! what the hell happened on Inside number 9 last week?

If you've never seen Inside no.9 don't bother with this, it'll mean naff all.

If you're a fan but  you've still not seen it and intend to spoilers ahead,  so stay away.

But here's an early review of  ahem..Hold on Tight, I  actually thought at first Reg Varney's estate or whoever had put a legal challenge to stop it being aired.

Afterwards I was thinking about people flicking through the channels and coming across a new game show hosted by Lee Mack and watching it until the end.

When I next see my brother and his family I intend putting it on and tell them it's a new quiz show, and see their reactions. They no nothing of Inside no.9

Sort of disappointed that the On The Buses homage was phoney.

I imagined it might end up like the Peter Cushing film,  Dr Terror's  House of Horrors, a bus journeying into hell with  Robin Askwith as the Devil ! I wouldn't put it past them to spring Hold On Tight next series.

Yes, the vote will be split between the two documentaries, but vote anyway. What harm can it do?

Here's an oddity. I started watching Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy on the BBC iPlayer, I also put on subtitles so I can focus on the programme more. Episode 1 was great, I start episode 2 in Rome and his narration is missing, however there are subtitles for this missing narration. Strange, it helps fill in the gaps though as the people and places he encountered are via subtitles, perhaps this changes later as I am only a few minutes in. However, I'm enjoying it thoroughly.

He likes to do the harmless eccentric act, but was a very enthusiastic recruit into the Tories' "dirty tricks" department during his brief stint as an MP.

Tonight was Paxo's last ever University Challenge. Well done, Mrs Doubtfire.

Not sure I can stomach watching the show with his replacement, the bumptious Lebedev shill Amol Rajan.

Death at the end of Lee Mack quiz show 3 by 3

I think that was based on a film called Scanners, (which had aliens who could make peoples head explode) And although not it's  massively famous, I took a then girlfriend to see at the cinema (ABC if anyone remembers that chain) so it wasn't exactly underground.

Scanners was not on the famous "video nasties" list, but was on an addendum list, so it still carried a whiff of notoriety at the time.

It was also the film that started Michael Ironside on his career playing people you really do not want to mess with.

Wasn't about Aliens either as far as i can remember.

Wasn't the special power gained by giving pregnant mothers a drug?

Rugby Union the only game in the world were the spectators handle the ball more than the players.

Bamber Gascoigne, I was reminded yesterday, was a key member (often the key member) of the question setting team during his time on University Challenge.

I doubt Amol Rajan is quite on the same level.

What with him being thick as mince.

It was also the film that really kickstarted the career of director David Cronenberg who would go on to make classics like Videodrome, The Dead Zone and The Fly, and in more recent times a couple of brilliant crime dramas with Viggo Mortenson called A History of Violence and Eastern Promises, the latter being my personal favourite Cronenberg film and one of my favourite crime films.

If you've never seen Eastern Promises, do. It's about a driver who works for the Russian mafia in London. It was written by Steven Knight before he became more famous for creating Peaky Blinders. Mortenson was nominated for the Academy Award for his performance.

Don't forget Crash, or as it's known in my house, the sexy car crash film.

I have just watched episode two of (America and the Taliban - PBS). Martin Smith is an excellent war correspondent/ reporter.

The first two episodes have been horrendous going from one cockup to another.
So many thousands (could be hundreds of thousands) of innocent Afghanistan people who lost their lives.
I do love PBS but why does it only start at 1pm nowadays ?. Do they have a free app on the smart tv ?.

On Monday (i think) i watched Buster Keaton on Sky Arts. Wow what a guy he must’ve been amazingly fit. The likes of Harold Lloyd & Keaton didn’t seem to have any fear. I love watching documentaries on  the lives of silent/talking movie stars up to about 1960.

I try my best to forget that film!

I think when Roger Ebert reviewed it he said that while he admired it but he couldn't say he liked it.
