Actor Shelley Duvall, 75.

theguardian.com (11/7):

Shelley Duvall, the much-loved US character actor and star of films such as The Shining, Annie Hall and Popeye, has died on her 75th birthday.

Duvall died in her sleep of complications from diabetes at her home in Blanco, Texas, according to Dan Gilroy, who had been her life partner since 1989.

Gilroy told The Hollywood Reporter: “My dear, sweet, wonderful life partner and friend left us. Too much suffering lately, now she’s free. Fly away, beautiful Shelley.”

Popeye got some very mixed critical and audience reactions, but Shelley was a perfect Olive Oyl.

Just added the "sad" emoji. Why does it look as if I'm saying  "daft"?

The "Dark Ages" is a term referring to life at the RFL under the new regime. It's characterized by a decline in openness, professionalism, transparency and  achievements,

And perhaps most famously was the man who created the shape and aerodynamics of the British Rail High Speed Train (Inter-City 125).

John Mayall, 90, bluesman. Still gigging until recently

John Mayall was responsible for 'breaking' so many great British blues rock guitarists and influenced a massive amount of other musicians.

RIP.

I have a huge collection of John Mayall of CD's and vinals going back over 50 years. The first LP i bought of his was Jazz Blues fusion in 1970, after a recomondation from a mate of mine, who sadly is not with us any more.

Well worth a listen too for any Blues fan, if you haven't heard it already.

Ysanne Churchman, aged 99.

Who?

She played Grace Archer in the long-running BBC radio soap opera, and her character was killed off in a shock story twist, intended to overshadow the launch of ITV. Churchman was selected as the victim because she was asking for equal pay and unionisation.
