Actor Timothy West, 90.

The actor Timothy West, whose career ranged from Shakespeare, Ibsen and Pinter on stage to TV appearances in Brass, EastEnders and Great Canal Journeys (with his wife, Prunella Scales), has died aged 90.

His children Juliet, Samuel and Joseph West said in a statement issued by his agent: “After a long and extraordinary life on and off the stage, our darling father Timothy West died peacefully in his sleep yesterday evening. He was 90 years old.

“Tim was with friends and family at the end. He leaves his wife Prunella Scales, to whom he was married for 61 years, a sister, a daughter, two sons, seven grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren. All of us will miss him terribly.

“We would like to thank the incredible NHS staff at St George’s Hospital, Tooting and at Avery Wandsworth for their loving care during his last days.”

Ballet dancer Vladimir Shklyarov, aged 39.

The star of the Mariinsky Theatre (and critic of the invasion of Ukraine) plummeted fatally from a 5th floor window.

But then, ballet dancers are notoriously clumsy, aren't they?

Yes. Obviously lost his balance next to an open window.

I must admit that Putin's men are becoming more imaginative in their choice of floor. They no longer use just the third floor. Perhaps we could play bingo - death dive floor bingo?

Or perhaps not. Rather bad taste.

Really sorry to hear the sad news about John Prescott. As the old saying goes, there was no need to count the votes in his East Hull constituency, they just weighed them.
