I’ve decided to try and learn more about the sport and the horses this year for a pure pleasure perspective not just for small wager gambling. We're on our way we know the route but our satnav is on because we're hoping to stop at a restaurant on the way. Then we have the diversion sign on our route because of Royal Ascot and the diversion sign. This took us away from our original route and through the middle of Ascot. If any of you have been lucky enough to go the 1930's rich people's buffet you'll know the rest of the story, our journey was nearly two hours longer than it should've been. We were treated to more police than I ever seen in the rest of my life, and as the wife said "It's like being in selfish entitlement "but I want to" world on steroids!" Who knew there were so many people with the dress sense of an Orangutan? My wife was driving and the number of attempts to bully were incredible. None of them succeeded. I have to say it made me homesick for all the stuff the RFL put on that compares very favourably with the organisation around this event. And £45 for parking and they'd paid it! This is not a political statement but I dread to think what it did to climate and clearly they all had a deep understanding and empathy for those suffering in the crisis at the moment. ivans82 Posted June 27, 2022 Share Posted June 27, 2022 Been to Royal Ascot but not Cheltenham , but the best racecourse in my opinion is York . Great views , everything you need is handy , you can get easily from the parade ring to the bookies , and nice big screen opposite the Stand . Only problem is , when they moved Royal Ascot to York one year , it was hit with monsoon type weather , consequently they had to re-lay the track , and i have barely backed a winner since !
