Skolars resurgence to continue, but could be close

Keighley to change their name to Cougars Cricket Club 🙂

Cru back to winning ways after last week's warm-up-after-too-long-off defeat 😉

Fancy Hurricanes in this one to compound the Yed's poor season so far

Lions-Hairnets could be the game of the round, close but 'nets to edge it

cru....Cru.....CRUSADERS!!!!!!

West Wales Raiders 12 v 22 London Skolars
- Skolars momentum should see them win this

Cornwall 6 v 66 Keighley Cougars
- Cougars tend to be merciless when points are up for grabs

Hunslet 28 v 18 North Wales Crusaders
- gut feeling tells me Crusaders won't recover quite so quickly

Oldham 16 v 20 Midlands Hurricanes
- Hurricanes playing well enough to take their first 'big' scalp

Swinton Lions 22 v 20 Rochdale Hornets
- dunno...home advantage?

Keighley to beat Cornwall.

The others, I can't call.

Was last week just a blip for North Wales or a signal of a loss of form? Hunslet have been inconsistent all year.

The remaining three all look like they could be cracking close contests.

Wins for Skolars, Huricanes, Lions and a very big win for Cougars.

I'm hoping Crusaders will bounce back after the big defeat last weekend. I'm sure they will. Hunslet have been a bit of a bogey team for Crusaders in the past but the lads have to remember that winning feeling, and we can come away with another win and keep our spot in second place.

If hurricanes win it will be the first win for an 'expansion' team over a heartland team this season.

Unless we count NWC which I am not sure about.

London Skolars beat Oldham, not sure if they count as expansion

Colwyn Bay isn't exactly rugby league heartlands! I guess we are an expansion team!

Skolars currently trailing at Stebonheath Park...and they score as I type to take the lead from West Wales.

52 minutes gone, and there's 2 points in it.

It's a shame that the other Southern expansion teams didn't work out. If we'd had 3 or 4 more to add to the 4 most southerly teams then we could have operated League one as two conferences, with the teams playing their own conference twice and the the other conference teams once. This minimises the travel and allows teams away from the heartland more competitive games whilst still being able to test themselves against the established teams in the north.

It would take money and long term thinking, both of which are in the rocking horse droppings category in rugby league.

I miss the rivalries with the other 'Southern' teams, particularly Hemel Stags. There was fierce competition to avoid being the wooden spoon winners but also to be the club that broke away and joined up with the other half of the table.

Pointless of course without that goal of eventually  being able to compete with the Heartland clubs.
