Perfectly possible if he's willing to keep pumping in the cash, or has partners to bring in. (Marwan, anyone?)

And the proposed new structure might incentive this, depending on how the criteria are judged.

Exciting times and good for the sport, if it comes to pass.

He bought the Championship so he might as well try and buy the SL or CC.

He just needs to now invest in half a team as the other half isn't eligible to play in SL.

Good luck to him.

Hope he gets the coach parking sorted for the final, though.

On that:

LEIGH head coach Adrian Lam's first job as he begins his preparations for a return to Betfred Super League will be to get rid of nearly half the club's overseas players who helped the club gain promotion.

There are no restrictions in the Championship on the number of non-federation trained players and Lam packed his squad with foreigners after beginning recruitment late following the Centurions' relegation from Super League at the end of the 2021 season.

Lam had just seven players when he was appointed by Leigh last December and built his squad as the season progressed. Former Australian Test winger Blake Ferguson was among his high-profile recruits.

Of the 17 players that gained a 44-12 win over Batley in Sunday night's Championship Grand Final, 11 are from overseas and Lam must get that figure down to the maximum of seven permitted in Super League.

"There will be a little bit of a re-shuffle because we can't keep the quota positions that we have," said former Wigan head coach Lam.

Mr Beaumont has never been a favourite of mine due to some of his previous antics. However I think there are some really exciting times ahead for Leigh fans in SL this time.

Because it´s a massive oversight and noone thought a champ club would have 1.2 million to smash onto the wage bill. Hope we get that loophole closed pronto. Same rules across all divisions on foreign players and a salary cap suited to what is a part time league.

The cap is different to the overseas limit though.

Suppose with knowing there’s only twelve spots in Super League, of which probably six are taken already, under IMG’s proposal, he probably thinks talking big and being ambitious is going to help back his and Leigh’s case for one of the remaining spaces.

I remember his interview with Brian Carney during the opening game of the 2021 season where he proclaimed no one would be talking about Leigh and relegation after 6 games in. How did that work out?

Hes an obnoxious big mouthed wazzock.

That is a major rebuild to be done with British players, and are the quality players he wants out there?

Leigh and Toronto weren't that far off that spend in 2017/17/18. Not sure what HKR's budget would've been in 2017 either. So it's not much of a surprise.

But, the rules should be consistent across the leagues, as they were when we had middle 8s.

To be fair, there were plenty of non-Leigh fans on here saying we'd stay up when we went 2-3 tries ahead against Wigan in that opening fixture so he was hardly alone in having a bit of confidence.

I think there are plenty of good acquisitions to be made, there are several clubs looking to free up cap space such as Leeds and Hull FC. The club also seem confident Lachlan Lam will get his quota exemption too which means we'll be able to run with an additional overseas player.

Bang on Shropshire Bull.

If anyone had followed the Championship from the start will see how ridiculous the competition ended where Leigh is concerned as they have been allowed to bring in whoever they want to win.

What surprised me more is no-one from the governing body monitored the amount of oversea players they used?? Or set a reasonable quota in the Championship or other leagues. Using a high amount of oversea players has led to teams being pummelled by 50 - 60 points and in one case 100 points!!

It appears double standards are used where SL have a system in place for foreign players and other leagues are left to do whatever!! This years Championship has been pretty pointless where competitions go.

What will happen to those players who are being released by Leigh? I wonder those players knew potentially what their fate is on winning and again personally this has made a mockery of our sport.

So Lam has to move on 4 players and replace them in quality? Ones going to Keighley and ones off to Leeds so there's only 2 more to go. Will it really be that hard for Leigh? I don't think so.

Strong rumours are that they've already signed up people for next season and they should really hit the ground running.

How does Lachlan Lam exempt from the quota rules when he's played for PNG at senior level?

They’re claiming on a rule that he was trained over here because he played for St Pats between the ages of five and eight.

Those players were on 1 year deals so would have had the same uncertainty as any other player in the league with a 1 year deal. Would you say the same about any of the players on 1 year deals at Barrow?
