The most incredible thing about this thread is that I feel like hitting the "like" button to every post by @Jim Prendle 🤣

Now then, it's a race between Sandie....and Fairburn....and the little man is in........yeees he's in.

I, just like those Castleford supporters felt that the ball should have gone to David Plange but he put the bit betwen his teeth...and it was a try

Kevin Ward - best player I have ever seen

The real Mick Gledhill is what you see on here, a Bradford fan ........, but deep down knows that Bradford are just not good enough to challenge the likes of Leeds & St Helens.

Go on, you know you want to.

In fact don’t. I’m not a man in search of devotees, unlike others already mentioned in this thread.

Well there's the difference. Im not too interested in what they say to their mate down the pub.

I’m disappointed in these comments by Derek Beaumont I have to say.

It’s been a great season so far with a really exciting climax to Super League and the Championship.

Its a bit of a pity we now get sidetracked from focusing totally on the upcoming playoffs as well as the NRL grand final.

Where's the bile? Almost everyone has merely commented on what Beaumont said.

Some have done a bit more than that tbf (eg don’t like him and never will), and it’s not like this is the first thread about Beaumont either.  You get what you see with him, it’s not how I’d carry on but it’s how he is and the game (and his community if what I read about his charitable deeds is correct) is a lot better for him.

Some proper bile on here, about someone most forum members don’t know personally. Take a good look at yourselves.

Why do I have to know him personally in order to comment on his leadership style.  Leadership, by its very definition, is publicly visible.

As is his leopard print car and jackets.

Commenting on leadership style is fine.

So no bile then.

I agree with you.

To be prepared to pour a significant proportion of your wealth into a sports club, and in particular a Rugby League club, with no return other than pride in the club's achievements, immediately makes you quite an unusual person.

On top of that, Rugby League is a deeply emotional game, even if you're just a fan, never mind an owner.

In my view the decision to disallow the try by Oliver Gildart was one of the worst howlers I've seen from a video-referee and it clearly played a huge part in the outcome of the game. Leigh could have gone 12-10 up at that point.

At that moment the mood of all Leigh supporters must have gone from elation to despair and I can only imagine that Derek was at the pointed end of that feeling.

I won't justify some of his comments but if we want our sport to exert a massive emotional pull on those who take part in it and support it, we have to accept that sometimes the response of someone who has invested so much money, time and effort into a club to that sort of disappointment will appear to some people to be excessive.

And I suspect that if the same decision had been given against any other club in the same circumstances, the response of the relevant club owner wouldn't have been too far behind that of Derek.

I can't agree with this take on it at all.

Of course he is well within his rights to be disappointed and frustrated with the result and the decision.  I would prefer a leader who kept his emotions in check in a post-match event but I see some merit in having someone at the top with such passion.

But this bit...

"I've seen it too many times now and I don't care if anyone's filming it because I've told the RFL clean and square, they were all at my box, all at the presentation party... and then the decision gets dealt with by the referee who were appointed by the people who are running the game.

No helicopter needed, because they can't afford one. So I'll put it out there that unfortunately, this is not an investable sport anymore to me, which is obviously very concerning."

What is this all about?  He is saying the RFL appoint the referee's and a referee has given a poor decision so I am threatening to pull my investment out of the sport... and then later he threatens to set up a rival league... where the ref's will get every decision correct.

Be emotional, be a fan and an owner, fine but that part is not defendable for me.

“Maybe what you will see is me step out of this charade and set up a proper Super League called Ultimate Rugby, with proper rugby players, who work with each other which is not decided by referees and is decided by the athletes.“

Interesting that he uses “ultimate” because in Ultimate Frisbee there are no referees. It’s a self refereed sport that relies on the “Spirit of the Game”. It’s a great sport too.

No disrespect Tommy, you can vouch for that personally through your life's expierence can you, or is it hear'say?

I've seen it happen in people when their circumstances change Harry. I've seen it loads between people's professional and private personalities.

Of which you are a main contributor, along with me with contrasting views.

No irony from me, just a little hint of reality which I hope will help you come to terms with the fact that one decision on Friday did not cost you an appearance in a grand final.

Hull KR will be licking their lips in anticipation of meeting such a weak willed club in their next match.

Beaumont's toddler outbursts are regular as clockwork, you can mark the end of the season by them. We're used to him doing things like putting the club he loves so much into administration and reneging on player payments because he's angry they got relegated, or didn't get promoted, or whatever, but now even in a season where they've won the Challenge Cup and made the play-offs he's still threatening to leave his club in the lurch. What a bloke... thank God I'm not a Leigh fan relying on him. 😳

He's apparently also going to set up a league in competition with Super League, with some mysterious South African investors 🤣🤣🤣

No money men in South Africa would be interested in investing in British Rugby League otherwise it would have happened by now

Mistake Martyn, you should not let your expierence try to outweigh the imagination of those who think they know better.

That’s like someone saying twenty years ago that no Oligarch or Sheik would be interested in investing in English football otherwise it would have happened by now.

No Eddie trust me when i say no South African money men are interested in investing in British Rugby League. A vast majority of South Africans don't even know that Rugby League exists, sadly

No it isn't,  20 years ago the EPL was not the guaranteed money making machine it is now. When SL becomes that the Sheiks will be all over it.

And you should brush up on reality.

The best team in the league lost 11 matches this season. Winning any one of those would have put you further up the table. However, you find it easier to concentrate on one dubious decision in one match than to concentrate on your obvious failings in 11 others.

Your glorious leader takes it a step further by calling into question the referees and people running the game whilst also forgetting that you lost 11 games this season.

”Childish” doesn’t even begin to describe it.

That one decision could be tge reason we are travelling to HKR on Friday and just as importantly meant Catakans not Wigan picked up the shield.

Yes HKR should be licking their lips we from a small squad we will be weakened by suspension and injuries.
