I have generally watched most of the opening ceremonies for the last 4 or so olympics... Buy I have had to turn this one off, it was very boring.

The fact that they are all French helped with the decision to turn off....

2012 was the last great Olympics as Brazil, Japan and going by the start of this is pants alongside having Breakdancing and Bmxing but no Greco Roman Wrestling yet both Tae Kwon Do and Karate ( do people still do that Combat sport) is in it.

Rugby 7's yeah/nah.

Going catch up with the Proms.

Once they finally got round to it, the Olympic Flame was a pretty cool spectacle.

But my God, they took their time getting there!

Apart from Seoul 1988, I've watched every opening ceremony since 1984, this is by far the worst and a million miles off what London did in 2012.

The last hour was pretty good though.

just do the track and field, gymnastics  and the swimming - sack the rest of the hobbies for the privileged- managed to get to 40 without knowing what a velodrome was - never seen one round here

Recommendation for today.

Handball, obviously. On Discovery Plus. 8pm.

France, current gold medalists and hosts, versus Denmark, previous gold medalists and current World Champions.

I'd given up before the end but I'm reading a lot of comments saying they raised the Olympic flag upside down! 🤣

It shows they were in distress

Unfortunately Plastic Bertrand was Belgian. Otherwise, it works a treat!

Yeah, an outdoor cycle track at the York Sports Village in the east of York.

They have a sports village too! You’re a mine of useless information goosey.

And a well-used (flat) enclosed 1km cycling track right next to the velodrome too.
