IMG ranked Cornwall 34/35 - essentially at the "we're not sure you're really a club" level.

But this can be turned to mean, apparently, that they don't know what they're talking about.

Maybe some IMG support would be helpful.

Such as?

How do you see IMG's role in that?

What has IMG got to do with anything?

There's none so blind as those that will not see! 🙄

To be honest I really don't see any benefits from IMG. However that is for another thread.

Marketing possibly, social media activities really whatever their expertise is.

Currently there appears to be many clubs struggling financially.

Some people here who don't understand what IMG is all about 👆

The RFL runs the sport.

I don't necessarily agree with what IMG are tasked with doing but it's really not that complicated to understand.

Is the criteria for entering League 1 too low? Maybe it should be raised which might cast some aside but at least it will help ensure new clubs have more of a chance of success

I think that I have mistakenly thought that IMG were paid a substantial fee to raise the standards at all our clubs by means of identifying where they have problems and helping the clubs with their own expertise in moving forward.

Cornwall are failing now because Perez is bored and having his fun with soccer.

Join the dots for me on how IMG, the RFL, or anyone, can fix that.

Yes you are mistaken. IMG provide a framework under which clubs in theory can help themselves. They were never brought in to provide a means of support for individual clubs.

Don’t you think being from the heartlands and wanting to join or buying a licence if from elsewhere are stringent enough criteria?

How about listening to and engaging with him and the club? Allowing them to participate in all RFL competitions at their level?

Good point about the competition and the northern clubs colluding to exclude Cornwall.

Although that is very stringent, I’d prefer there to be a minimum score on the IMG points system for League 1 participation.

I would say its a good point on the lack of RFL planning/strategy regarding expanding the game.

Heres the plan as I see it.

Cut central funding to pay for IMG. Then at the same time try to expand the lowest league with the weakest teams in. Sit back and see who can survive.

What's your plan for that ?

I'm fairly sure there is no licence to be sold, only the transfer of membership of the RFL subject to approval by them ie the other member clubs, and likely subject to a bond.

Yes. It's essentially buying the existing club and getting permission to move location and change the name.

That would be my assumption too. With what they play players and travel costs etc Cornwall must just be haemorrhaging money.

Who would've thought travel costs might be a problem in a league where attendances are generally in three figures and your local rivals are hundreds of miles away? A sense of reality would be helpful.

Maybe £200k to buy it and run the club for a season, there is no way Perez would want £200k for the licence.

On the contrary he likely would.

He owned an advertising and marketing business in Toronto when he discovered RL and sold it to fund his RL projects.  The money he's spent personally on that is very likely more that 200 thousand pounds, he's likely burned through all the money got from selling his business.

He would have to want, I'm afraid, were he trying to sell it to me. I wouldn't be paying for the money he lost through his own stupidity. Neither would any other competent businessman.

Strong language Griff. He wanted to invest in RL and that is what we want people to do. He didn't realise David Argyle wasn't as flush as thought / led to believe. Cornwall is a good idea in terms of the locals accepting RL and travel distance probably wasn't seen as a problem for someone living in Canada. He should have realised after the Toronto saga how skint RL is, even at the top level. Therefore, it was always going to be a big ask to make it viable.
